Complies with QLD Outdoor Recreation Industry COVID-19 Safe Plan. Next departure is 03 October ex Cairns or 04 October ex Atherton, see:https://nq.minerslife.com.au//pub-walk-brings-a-tipple-or-

19.01.2022 Deep wades and water crossings are a significant obstacle that require deliberate planning to execute. If the water is deep enough for the pack bags to float, causing the animal to loose it's footing and begin to float, resulting in the animal capsizing with disastrous consequences.

16.01.2022 Hopefully we will see a few of these animals during our first "Classic Qld Pub walk" starting from Atherton next week. Petersen Creek Walk, Yungaburra

15.01.2022 A neat looking adaptation of an Italian traditional pack saddle design...

13.01.2022 Three of our character donkeys: L-R, Wingnut, feral from Banka Banka NT, Priscilla (Queen of the Desert) born at Kalinvale Farm out of feral dam & feral sire, and Bella, the Italian beauty, bred at Lake Eacham Caravan Park.

10.01.2022 Photos of our arrival in the Malanda Falls Caravan Park where our walkers "camped" overnight in the Forest Lodge cabins on Day Six before dinner in the Malanda Hotel that night. Thank you Malanda Falls Caravan Park for your hospitality.

08.01.2022 Leading "Jack" across the Barron River at Picnic Crossing. This is a difficult wade of about 30m long with some hidden rocks and an ill-defined exit for the animals to recognise.I would not attempt to wade the animals if the water was much deeper without unloading them. Thre is a risk that the pack bags will begin to float and cause the animals to loose their footing and capsize.

06.01.2022 It was great to be back with this excellent organisation even if we were constrained to semi -urban and urban environments- proves that the principles of guiding are universal.

04.01.2022 The 5th of September is Edmund Kennedy's (http://gutenberg.net.au/pages/kennedy.html ) birthday. He turned 30 on this day in 1848 at camp XL (40) on the banks ...of the Walsh River and in the midst of the Featherbed Ranges. His situation would not have been a happy one as the entry in William Carron's journal indicates: September 4 and 5.--The country continued much the same, making travelling most difficult and laborious. We were now in the vicinity of Cape Tribulation. In passing through the bed of the river, in which we were in many places obliged to travel, we passed two very high peaked hills to the westward. The attached photo shows the topography of the area during a retrace in 2005.Kev Rosser Photograph. See more

04.01.2022 Shows the techniques to pack lengths of timber. Pack mules and horses packed railway sleepers (Ties in USA) using these techniques around the Herberton region.
