17.01.2022 This is a lovely story to share at a time when our deepest thoughts are with our Karen friends, as they face the current political turmoil in Myanmar and continue their struggle for peace. Many of you may remember Saw O Moo, who was tragically killed by the Burma Army in 2018. His legacy continues as his widow Naw Paw Tha carries on his work in forest restoration. Thinking of you all and hope that you stay safe during this difficult time.

13.01.2022 Guess what? Some exciting news about to unfold...tune in and find out! https://youtu.be/dpHBS2bY_ro

11.01.2022 Welcome to the world little fella! Born by caesarian section at the Javan Gibbon Center last week, a little brother for Bobby! Unfortunately, gibbons raised as pets suffer from many physical and behavioural issues as a result. Many of these can be rehabilitated but difficulties giving birth are a complex issue.... We hope that the cycle can be broken and that these offspring at least will make it back tot he wild someday. The Javan Gibbon Centre currently houses 10 gibbons, the lowest number in decades after the successful reintroduction of 30 gibbons over the last 12 years. Sadly, the pet trade continues, and habitat encroachment has likely worsened as a result of COVID. We must remain vigilant in stamping out the illegal trade of gibbons and the protection of their wild forests!

07.01.2022 Recognising the need for transboundary conservation efforts to save tigers and other wildlife in Karen State is a critical step forward, as we continue our efforts with local communities amid tumultuous times in the region. Community empowerment is vitally important to implementing sustainable conservation projects, says Stokes from Wildlife Asia. Local communities are the best stewards of their environment when they are empowered and included in steering initiatives from the beginning. In Myanmar, access to and respect for basic human rights, including land rights, is just a starting point for protecting people and wildlife from exploitation and industrial expansion. The Salween Peace Park is an amazing example of this. https://news.mongabay.com//for-border-crossing-thai-tiger/
