24.01.2022 Our philosophy at Willarah is 'our cattle should only have one bad day'. Spring is a great time of the year - green grass, new calves and fat cows

22.01.2022 Spring has arrived and so have our first lambs! Off to a flyer with twins!

22.01.2022 On Saturday everyone got a tail trim and the new calves joined the main mob up top. The Bull was less than impressed when he got left behind with the house cow and calf.

21.01.2022 Talk about polar opposites! Two days ago our whitest heifer delivered a pure black bull calf. Today our darkest heifer delivered a pure white bull calf. Both heifers were AId by the same bull, Ravenworth Invictus. They weighed 35kg and 37kg respectively.

21.01.2022 Starting Friday with some house and backyard treasures!

20.01.2022 Every has a silver lining. While we were very sad to hear this beautiful tree hit the deck after significant rains, were looking forward to its potential as relaxed wedding seating! . . . #gippslandwedding #ruralweddings #mirboonorth #reusereducerecycle #upcycledecor

18.01.2022 We this pic & post by Fernvale Acres. 17th August 2020 One of the biggest highlights of our year and I’ve finally been able to share it here.... As the day draws to an end, I sit and ponder on all the hours of labour and love that has got us to the point where we are today. Following my vision of having a farm that is free of pesticides and chemicals, where the focus and time is spent on soil conditioning through natural methods and where you work in harmony with nature, hasn’t been easy. The vision sounded crazy to so many but not to me and now, not to Wayne Buzz. I’m so grateful that Wayne has decided to follow this vision in collaboration with his own love of farming. It hasn’t been easy for him to make this dramatic change but he has seen the importance of pasture management and the impact it has on soil conditioning and happy animals. As of tomorrow our cattle will be processed on our farm by Provenir meats. This business has the same ethical values as we do and ensures that cattles lives are ended humanly without the stress usually caused during this time. The removal of transporting cattle also reduces our carbon footprint. Our grass fed cattle are free from hormone injections, chemically sprayed grass and freely graze our 110acre farm in a rotational system. Soon you will be able to purchase our beef as it becomes available to the public. You will see exactly where your beef is sourced knowing that you are feeding your family with fresh and natural beef from Fernvale Acres through @provenirmeat online. @wayne.bezzina.1 I have seen the nerves and worry over the past few months as you spent many hours building the cattle yards and preparing our property for this day. As exhausting as it was, I know that at the end of these next couple of days, your nerves will turn to relief and our heated discussions, my persistence and our determination will be bloody well worth it! We still have a way to go on Fernvale Acres but I can’t wait to continue our vision. Thank you to all our supporters, encouragers, incredible neighbours and helpers during this journey Want to know more about this amazing farming family? 15.01.2022 Last night between showers we moved the recently weaned calves onto the Hill paddock. We rested this paddock over most of summer to get some good cover and restore some carbon back into the soil. These guys are growing at an average of 1kg/day on pasture alone. #greengrass #beef #specklepark

12.01.2022 Amazing to see the difference 3 weeks after Soilkee renovated and seeded a multi species winter crop into our two least fertile paddocks.

10.01.2022 We weighed our September-drop calves today and the winner is........ Q08 (216kg)! The average weight was 190kg, which is not to bad for pasture-raised cattle with no added supplements.

09.01.2022 Our cows will be AI'd to this bull in December! We cant wait to see the calves! At Willarah we want to use only the best! This bull will help us provide the highest quality beef from the most beautiful part of Gippsland. JAD Speckle Park

07.01.2022 We've reached the half way mark for calving Really pleased how well these heifers have taken on motherhood. A testament to the breed.

06.01.2022 We must be short on places to sit in Mirboo North!

06.01.2022 The recent rain has the Little Morwell river looking amazing. Perfect for a wedding ceremony.

06.01.2022 The chooks are in full swing, grass is green and the calves are growing. Life's good at Willarah Farm.

06.01.2022 Our 7-8 week old calves. Growing like weeds!

05.01.2022 Head over to the Victorian Country Market website and check out these guys! High quality beef, processed on farm and straight to your door! Instead of the livestock being transported, the abattoir comes to the farm. Eliminates unnecessary stress on animals associated with live transport. Less stress means less Adrenalin produced, and thus more retained glycogen stores in the meat, leading to exceptional eating quality, taste and tenderness.

04.01.2022 Cant half tell youre a bull calf! What a frown!

04.01.2022 A lot of girls would kill for eyelashes like these!

04.01.2022 Were excited to announce were joining the Instagram fam! Stay tuned for all things Willarah Farm Weddings

04.01.2022 Yesterday we completed our AI program. The straws used were from the very impressive bull, Minnamurra Montezuma. Low birth weight, big growth and lots of intermuscular fat! Exactly what we are hoping for in our calves. A special mention to Mark from HICO Australia. Your professional attitude and expertise were very appreciated by these two novices!

02.01.2022 Our F2s are starting to fill out at 5 months of age. Might grow even more if he didnt waste so much milk over his face

01.01.2022 The calves having one last munch before Soilkee arrives next week. Soilkee were the first in Australia to receive carbon credits for their Pasture Renovator. The Soilkee aerates the soil but doesnt leave the ground bare - this helps keep the soil structure intact and creates a better environment for good bacteria and fungi, which increases soil health and carbon sequestration. We will be putting in a multi-species winter crop that will pump carbon and nutrients into the s...oil, increasing production and soil health, making our life easier and helping the little fellas pack on a few extra kgs quicker.
