06.01.2022 Here's a neat little tricep builder you can do with just your bodyweight. I'm doing it on the rings for added difficulty, however this can be done virtually anywhere, even your grandma's vegetable patch (second clip!) Line the hands up wherever feels comfortable, break at the elbows and search for a good stretch in the tricep at the bottom of the movement #gardengains #bodyweightfitness #triceps #calisthenics #quarantineworkout

04.01.2022 Progressive Overload and why it matters! Ever wondered why you go to the gym and workout, yet never seem to improve? The answer may lie in your progression scheme. Progressive Overload is a sport science principle which simply means "doing more work over time". ... Our bodies respond to the stimulus we provide in the gym, and adapt accordingly. For example, if you go to the gym and jump on your favourite leg press and do a hard set of 10 reps that makes you very sore, your body will realise that it is inadequately prepared to handle this stimulus. It then responds by building new and bigger muscle tissues to be better prepared for the next time you go and attempt something like this! However, if you go back to the gym next week and climb onto the leg press and do the same weight again for the same reps, you haven't provided any new stimulus to your body (because you can already do this weight for this amount of reps), and it probably won't need to respond by adding any significant amount of muscle tissue. How do you get around this little problem? By doing more reps, more sets, or adding weight! We need to keep providing a harder and harder stimulus over time so our bodies continue to adapt and grow! It's also VERY important to be keeping a record of your reps, sets, exercises and anything else you deem necessary! People who have seen me train at the gym will notice that I never train without my notebook and pen, and I am constantly perusing my previous workouts to see how many reps I did last week. How else can you know how many reps you need to beat??? Start making an effort to track your progress and watch your results improve, and your level of EFFORT improve also!

03.01.2022 Since I have had a week off from training due to illness, here's a little throwback from a couple of weeks ago. 230kg on the bar here. The plan is to move some big weights and grow some more muscle this year! (Like every other year ) Happy Monday everyone!! #weights #deadlift #iron #personaltrainer

02.01.2022 The things we resort to when the gym is closed Hope everyone is well and looking forward to returning to the gym soon! #personaltrainer #calisthenics #quarantineworkout
