25.01.2022 Beautiful sunshine on my lunch break today resulted in a quick fridge raid grabbing my my green juice and some of the green ingredients. Shooting hard natural light means you have to be fast, not only does your ice melt and your greens wilt, those shadows start to move over your scene. The benefits of flash I guess, but it’s fun to race the sun and see what you get. 23.01.2022 I had a full, busy day today. It was a little chaotic, very scheduled and a shock to the system to be perfectly frank. 16.01.2022 Tea-time in the studio. This is, of course, not my studio although I used to paint way back before I was a photographer and before I was a mum. I loved it wholeheartedly even though I wasn’t very good at it. I know will paint again, when the time is right, but there’s other creative pursuits bring enjoyed at the moment. I baked bread last week, and as I was about to turn out my risen dough, I couldn’t help but marvel at the effect the morning sunlight had upon the flour sprinkled onto the baking paper. It’s fun to catch the light creating such dramatic effects even if it’s not a shot that portrays a pretty scene, or makes our mouths water. 12.01.2022 There is something incredibly special about capturing an artist in their studio, a space where magic happens and that artist gets lost in the beautiful creative process unique to them. 08.01.2022 My ancestral property I visited last year in Berry, NSW. James Wilson emigrated from Ireland to Australia in 1857 and became the town mayor, doctor and a prominent councillor. I felt so lucky to be taken on a tour by the new owner of this amazing property, currently being renovated. This was the barn. The place is breathtaking (over 200 acres) on Berry Mountain with views to the sea. I hope I get to go back some day and see what they’ve done with it. 06.01.2022 So proud to have been a part of this fabulous project lead by my gorgeous friend @sophieperezartist At the beginning of this pandemic Sophie put a call out to her followers to send her a photo and story of a place that is special to them or that they were missing. She had an overwhelming response and the result was 200 works on paper, so beautiful, and each accompanied by a special caption or story about love, loss or hope. Where do I fit in? Sophie asked me to turn all of ...this into a book as well as shoot the photos for it, and it is an exciting time as it is launched for pre-sales on Kickstarter. 04.01.2022 Homemade cinnamon donuts These drool worthy numbers were made by my lovely partner and stepdaughter this afternoon and they tasted absolutely incredible. We couldn’t resist having a bit of fun with the cinnamon sugar and it’s a great shot to enter into the #motioninfood challenge hosted by @cookrepublic and @anisa.sabet with @ecologyhomewares ... And this shot is kind of black too right? So it fits with the @happytummybyritumbhara and @violaminerva challenge #foodphotobiteswithritu Capturing motion is great fun and I have best success with flash or outside in brighter light where you can increase your shutter speed. For this shot I used an elinchrom flash with a strip box angled toward the subject (slightly side on) and ensured by background was black and minimalist so sugar popped.
