23.01.2022 I was delighted to write a reflection as part of the Advent journey Common Grace have put together and I am so looking forward to reading these daily words ‘for the weary’ leading up to Christmas. ‘For the Weary is an incredible daily email devotional series that has been crafted by a diverse group of contributors, and reflects on the lament of the Advent story and the hope that we share.’ Sign-up at:... https://www.commongrace.org.au/advent_for_the_weary See more
23.01.2022 Peace is found in unexpected places.
13.01.2022 I try to keep this ancient, life-giving practice called sabbath. One day a week that moves at a different pace. Switch my phone off on Friday nights and let myself unravel. Do you have a practice like this? Here’s a poem about my experience of it: Sabbath comes as timely and ill-timed as always I do not feel I deserve rest... The slave master in my mind is not satisfied My insides are a tight fist, a scrunched up spring a well-wound web of fear an anthology of unresolved questions So I surrender to the gift of surrender I give the slave master a hug unball my fist release the spring trace the fear web with gentle assurance put the anthology on the shelf and breathe Today is the day that I have and it demands nothing of me.
06.01.2022 I planned to do other things today but sometimes it feels like there is something that just needs to come out in writing. That's what this felt like. A reflection on gender and stereotypes and assumptions and invisible rules. And when I sat down, it just poured out. (And if it isn't the most click-baity title I've ever had on a blog post, than I'm not sure what is).
