23.01.2022 Get a head start on the know how...

23.01.2022 Windy and wet weather didn’t stop the gardening! Thank you to everyone that came along to our first working bee on Saturday!

22.01.2022 You can now access documents about the garden including membership form, garden rules etc from this dropbox link: https://www.dropbox.com//mlraqk/AAB-59h1PsqIvSDbyqCmi8jya

21.01.2022 Willsmere Station Community Garden set to open! Spring is in the air and the garden will soon be open! Although we are yet to have a definite date for the hand-over of the garden, we are in close communication with Boroondara Council about next steps, and we're pleased to report that within the next month, there will be significant activity taking place as plot holders take ownership of their plots and get busy planting.... Those that are not plot holders, there are still plenty of ways in which you can be involved in the garden. By joining as a general member (available in full, group and concession options) you do not hold a plot but have access to communal areas, can participate in maintaining the Food Forest and shared plots along with sharing in the harvest from these areas. General members are required to attend one working bee, at which you will be inducted. Youll also be entitled to vote. We would also welcome your input as a valued member of our Committee of Management. The Committee is made up of volunteers who have planned the garden over an extended period with Boroondara Council. Once the garden has opened officially, strategic planning for the garden's medium to long term future will begin. If you're interested in contributing your skills, ideas and experience to this committee, please contact us on [email protected] We need a combination of office bearers (convenor, deputy convenor, treasurer and secretary), and ordinary members to ensure the viability of the garden is maintained. It's a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded local people who have a passion for the community, for gardening, for sustainability and the business of growing stuff! Formal nominations for the office bearing roles will take place at our first AGM in March 2020, although you are welcome to join the committee as an ordinary member before that date. You can access the WSCG model rules and WSCG Management Plan via our new Facebook group Willsmere Station Community Garden for more information. We hope to continue to grow with our community of gardeners, and look forward to seeing you in or around the garden soon!

21.01.2022 Have you got some producing growing in your plot or home garden that you wish to swap? Bulleen Art and Garden have their monthly Vegie Swap on this Saturday!

20.01.2022 We are really excited to see construction of the new community garden beginning. It is going to be a beautiful, productive garden and community space and we are looking forward to seeing it grow with the community. As you will be aware, throughout the planning and design process, the garden has been referred to as the Earl Street Community Garden. Following discussion with the community working group we are proposing to adopt the name Willsmere Station Community Garden. In... naming the garden Willsmere Station Community Garden, we hope to help foster a strong sense of place for the community and garden users. The name reflects the locations links to Boroondaras past and the historic train station, which was part of the old steam era Outer Circle Rail Line which ran for three years between 1890 and 1893. Additionally the completed garden will have its entrances on Carnegie Avenue and Willsmere Road rather than Earl Street. We hope you share in our excitement in the lead up to the completion of this garden.

18.01.2022 The garden is coming soon! Plots are being built, shed is nearly done and fruit trees go in this weekend! We are thinking we might need some extra tools like shovels, rakes etc. If anyone wants to donate good quality working tools in good order (doesnt need to be brand new) we would be happy to receive them! PM us if youd like to donate.

16.01.2022 The ballot for plots for the Willsmere Station Community Garden has been drawn! At a WSCG committee meeting on Thursday 9 June an officer from Boroondara Council conducted a randomised ballot and drew 35 names from a list of 131 applications for plots. Both successful and unsuccessful applicants have been notified by email of the outcome.... Wed like to thank everyone for their support of, and interest in, this wonderful initiative. We have a great opportunity to create a beautiful and productive green space in our local area, which has benefits for everyone ... especially our environment. We'd also like to acknowledge that that garden is being built on land we do not own and we therefore acknowledge the Traditional Owners of country throughout Australia, including the Wurundjeri in the northern part of our City, as the original custodians of this land, and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. Please contact us via message if you have any questions about the ballot or wish to check your application status. We hope to provide more updates on the gardens progress soon, so stay tuned!

11.01.2022 An interim committee with elected officials needs to be established, which will ensure the legal process is followed in incorporating the association. Once the interim committee is elected, they will work to legally incorporate the garden. Then in 2019, a full-time garden management committee will be established. Calls for nominations for this will be made public in due course. If you are interested, please attend a meeting of the working group this week. Wednesday 31 October...
