16.01.2022 The Winchelsea Movie Club will launch its fourth season on the 20th of February, opening with The Greatest Showman. The club is encouraging anyone new to town to join and enjoy a social night at the Globe each month with a movie followed by supper, wine, tea and coffee. For a very affordable $7 a film (including supper), members will be treated to a line up of 10 films throughout the year including Cats, War Horse, Ride Like a Girl and The Green Book. ... The movie club is a membership-based group as part of the Federation of Victorian Film Societies, which keeps film royalties affordable. Members can join for the Autumn or Spring season ($40 or $35 Health Care Card concession) or for the year ($70 or $65 Health Care Card concession). To join email [email protected] or pick up a membership form from IGA or Maguire Butcher Shop. Existing members do not need to complete a membership form. Payment can be made by cash or card at the first film or by bank transfer (details on the membership form). We’d love you to join us to experience movies close to home in Winchelsea, meet new people and enjoy the heritage and atmosphere of The Globe Theatre. 14.01.2022 June's film is Hidden Figures (2016) is the true story of three brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit. 10.01.2022 In view of the current coronavirus situation, the Winchelsea Movie Club committee has decided to suspend the showing of movies until further notice. We will review the situation at the July midyear break. We hope to resume the movie club in August. We apologise for any inconvenience and disappointment this may cause. 06.01.2022 Next Thursday 19 September we are screening The Post, a dramatic true story starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks. The film depicts a cover-up that spanned four U.S. Presidents, and pushed the country's first female newspaper publisher to join an unprecedented battle between the press and the government.
