23.01.2022 With all the excitement starting to fade after a successful Toronto NSW CHAMPIONSHIPS WINDSURFING REGATTA WITH more Than 100 sailors including students on the weekend, I thought I’d like to share this fundraiser with you. We launched a GoFundMe page some time ago for upgrades to our club, rescue craft etc. To improve accessibility to the upstairs section of the club by adding a ramp and new bathroom facilities upstairs. Although we also have initiated our Windsurfer LT raffl...e for funding for our learn to sail activities, new equipment and repairs. The GoFundMe is all about improving our facilities. If you can help in any way, even a $2 donation will help if enough of us get on board and support this small progressive club that has shown amazing support for windsurfing and developing new sailors. Raceboards and windsurfer class alike enjoyed the venue which must be one of the best locations in NSW FOR HOSTING A REGATTA with the nearby shopping centre, accomodation, easy parking and water access and beautiful waterways on western Lake Macquarie. A huge band of volunteers assisted in making the event successful. Thankyou to all these dedicated unsung heroes! Here’s the link for more info https://www.gofundme.com/f/2409s1i3qo

16.01.2022 Here’s your opportunity to score a Windsurfer LT and support a small yet progressive sailing club with its learn to sail program. Toronto Amateur Sailing Club is working hard to grow windsurfing on Lake Macquarie and hosted the Jan 2019 National Championships with 107 Windsurfers. Last weekend we hosted a combined Windsurfer Class and Raceboard NSW State Championships with 71 Windsurfer Class Competitors, 17 Raceboard sailors and managed to fit in a learn to sail session on S...unday morning with dinghy and Windsurfing students numbering close to 20! The Windsurfer LT is THE board to have if you desire versatility for a huge range of conditions; want a board suitable for learning and international Racing; its simple and affordable and draws its design inspiration from the golden years of windsurfing before it all became too high tech and specialised. If you just wanna have fun, share a windsurfer with family and friends and have the one board, one sail and rig for any conditions, this is the go. It has attracted huge international attention since the relaunch of the Windsurfer Brand in 2018. It is much lighter and more stable than the early windsurfers, faster and sports a small 5.7m sail that is both light weight and powerful. Being a One Design Class, The Windsurfer Class Association races these boards. One board one rig one sail for all competitors, no arms race for the best equipment - it all comes down to the individual sailors skill, tactical ability and board handling skills. We race in four weight divisions, Female and youth / Junior divisions and at National level conduct four disciplines of competition. Course Racing (traditional sailing races), Marathon for a test of endurance), Slalom (for short course racing to hone your board handling skills) and Freestyle for expression of style and board / rig control in 3 minute routines. The Windsurfer Class is unique in this way to all other sailing classes. It is all about fun and camaraderie both on and off the water. Social fun, enjoying the wind and water and some fierce racing rivalries when the start hooter sounds! Windsurfers are great bunch and always available to lend a hand and offer friendly advice. Do your self a favour and go online to purchase a few tickets. Other prizes include a Go Pro and various other kit including Windsurfer Shirt and Cap so you look the part. First prize windsurfer LT complete (including Shipping interstate) can also be exchanged for a $2500 cash prize. 4,000 tickets for sale, drawn Sunday, 4th April 2021 at Toronto Amateur Sailing Club (same day as the Australian National Championships held at Parkdale Yacht Club, Victoria. Scan the QR code below to enter or follow the link. Good luck and smooth sailing! Cheers, Al Haynes. 15.01.2022 Check out the pros including our own Bruce Wylie - smooth as, power gibes. Good video Robert Masters

15.01.2022 Great to see Cobra supporting employees with disability. This guy shows an inner strength to deal with life in a wheel chair and compete in marathons and get the job done. Hats off to all disabled people, life can be tough but you can make it enjoyable especially with a positive attitude and never give up mentality and it helps when supported by a caring company.

14.01.2022 Hey Windsurfers, We had an awesome roll up at Palm Beach Sailing Club on Pittwater with 46 registrations and pretty damn close to that number on the water! Check out the close to 1500 images from the day below! Thanks to Trevor Gourlay....Continue reading

14.01.2022 Lake Macquarie news update for this weekend and a humble appreciation of the windsurfer LT and our class.

13.01.2022 Hey guys, just a heads up. Additional Covid precautions in place. Please don’t attend regattas and club events if in a different zone to your home.

12.01.2022 A very honest and frank interview with a 22 year old Robby Naish, windsurfing from 12 years of age - after bumping into a few legends of the sport such as Larry Stanley and the rest is history. He has achieved so much since 85 adding to his king of Watersports aura.

12.01.2022 Hey Wally sailors of NSW! (And those who wish they were so cool - you can be, just join us and see how the fun class plays) Covid zone restrictions lifted! Palm Beach is the place to be next Sunday... Still only 16 entries C’mon! Register, you know you need it.... Palmy club met tonight to thrash out the details They won’t be catering but plans are afoot for a few drinks and race debriefing afterwards at a nearby establishment. We will be doing a weigh in on Iluka Rd at Windsurfer roadblock on you way in. Scales aren’t rated for cars so you will need to step out, collect a sign on form and get changed at your parking spot and weigh in before heading to beach with gear and hand in form! Look for the flags and the crazy rep flagging you down! Also competitors and spectators you bring along or invite need to sign onto the Covid register for contact tracing. Social distancing applies so as much as I know you want to, your state reps, team nsw and your mates can probably do without a hug, just an elbow jab and blow a kiss if you must. Bring your own lunch and an esky or pick up lunch at nearby shop. More details to come.... Sign up online now cause it will be a hassle doing it on the street, they (NSW POLICE FORCE) may think we’re dealers and detain us for questioning if the locals become suspicious of all the ecstatic windsurfers stripping down in underwear for weigh-in on the jockey scales in the middle of the road (females excluded as we all know you are super lightweights). I don’t wanna miss the first race (like I usually do - so let’s be organised and get in early) with my new red LT1 sail as I’m on fire so watch out for the super heavies if the winds a’ blowin’ on Pittwater. The locals have warned us the tourists will be coming and snapping up all available parking spots by 10:00am so get there before 9:00am if you can. Palmy will be trying to get us started first race by 11:00am and trying to give us 5 quick well run races! Briefing will be brief (self explanatory really) but that means I won’t be speaking! 10:30 am sharp and hit the water and get to the start line so get rigged early! After 3 races run, we will head in for lunch and try to smash out a few extra races. An LT squadron from Lake Mac are assembling to take on the locals so watch your backs! If you need a board contact Johnsy at Windgenuity or your class reps, Al and Pete. We may be able to assemble a few LTs or one designs if needed but don’t leave it to last minute or you will miss out. Here’s the link - do it now - https://theclubspot.com/regatta/tu1x2jaJ6G Not an association member? Join up here - http://www.windsurferclassaus.com/class--membership.html Free your style on a Windsurfer LT! Oh, raceboarders are joining us as well. Their series two day event was cancelled however, they will be also racing on Sunday for fun. If raceboarding, pay the club directly but you still need to be signed on to the Covid register as do all spectators.

06.01.2022 Two absolute legends of our sport! Thankyou for the gift of an exciting life aboard windsurfers and the Windsurfer Community. 87 and still looking very fit, good health is as much about attitude to life as anything else. The Windsurfer lifestyle hasn’t hurt Hoyle either. Thanks for sharing Robert Masters and Matt Schweitzer!

06.01.2022 Covid-19 is one thing but dealing with vandalism and theft is heartbreaking for club volunteers.

06.01.2022 Hi everyone please see Geoff Kitchen’s post regarding our Xmas party. As per Geoff’s post with 17 Covid cases identified in the Pittwater area over the last day or so I can't see the NSW Windsurfer Class Christmas party happening tomorrow night. Geoof is waiting on advice from the club, which is expected to come soon, but realistically it ain't happening. If something favorable happens overnight I will post here.... We still have a booking for space for dinner/drinks and the ability to run races at short notice but unfortunately at this time I think it's best to assume we'll be seeing everyone in the New Year. Worst case scenario, we'll have a "Christmas in July" party at the Seldon for sail regatta this winter! In addition if the local club holds a small even for a few locals we recommend nobody from outside the area attend due to current Nsw Governemnt Covid advice.

05.01.2022 Hey Nsw Wally sailors, Rohan Cudmore and his Band are doing a live Facebook streaming event this weekend. If you like some classic rock, this is a must see! They had offered to perform at the Toronto States originally but Covid made it all too difficult. After seeing the venue again, a bit too small, Rohan commented just as well, they may have shook the place down to its foundations- as they like to play LOUD! https://fb.me/e/gEIfIsV8Z... Anyway, hope you can check in and have a listen, Rohan is one of our original pioneers of the sport (Windsurfer Class, Wing Foiling, Surf sailing - you name it! Also a multiple Merimbula Classic winner against many of the greats) and has a good set of lungs to punch out the classics!

04.01.2022 NSW Windsurfer Class STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020 (and raceboard states)Toronto. Here’s some photos taken at the event. 04.01.2022 Hey guys and girls We are really trying to get a huge contingent of new south Welshmen and women to converge on the vics from 1 April for national titles. We are the biggest state in numbers by far so hoping we can outnumber the locals down there. Let me know if interested. Peter Doolan Pat Connolly and I will be driving down and taking the trailer so can carry some boards etc if you decide to fly down. Flights should be very cheap. If considering, accomodation needs to be bo...oked ASAP. Check out the news on class website www.windsurferclassaus.com With their new clubhouse great race management and ideal beach location it may just be bigger than toronto and Sa nats. Cheers, Al Ps early bird pricing ends in feb
