25.01.2022 I started trying to fix these dreads yesterday afternoon but decided they needed to be totally brushed out and remade. Yes they were originally made by a "loctician". Sigh. This is a demonstration of my commitment to my clients!! Today was marked in my calendar as the first day of my 3 week break. I havent had a proper break from work in nearly 3 years. But I simply could not leave this job unfinished so we went at it again from 830am this morning. You can see the waxy res...idue left behind from the initial install and lack of proper washing since. The sections were way too big, no uniformity or planning, they did not match the synthetic extension size and she was not given proper info or instructions on washing or maintaining. I would have loved to make these dreads even smaller, but at 10yrs old this would have been too much sitting time. The results are a compromise but a massive improvement She chose these feathery bright wraps and beads (school approved, no worries there). All her own natural hair, apart from 4 human hair extensions on snapped off hair. Synthetic plastic hair be gone. See more

09.01.2022 I want to share this massive dread overhaul yesterday by Laura The Dread Room in Ulverstone, Tasmania. Laura completed professional training online earlier this year with The Dread Shed. I have been mentoring Laura and working with her, in her beautiful Studio and online over the last 6 months. Laura is now running her own thriving business from home, she is inundated with work and booked out several months in advance. Congratulations Laura! Im so proud of you. Your hard work, persistence and high standards have made you into a top notch loctician. Its been a pleasure to help you grow, foster your progress and share with you everything Ive learned.

07.01.2022 Fabulous day today making 87 fresh dreads for Laura. Maggie, Cassey and I worked together on this, lots of fun. After years of working solo its beyond wonderful to have these women to work with. Laura has incredibly thick hair and it would have taken me 14+ hours on my own. Maggie and Cassey got started from 930 -1230 (I had a maintenance client for the morning) and then from 1230 - 530 the 3 of us worked together. Job done. Dream dreads. Everyone happy!

01.01.2022 I squeezed Flynne in today to start rescuing these dreads! Unfortunately made very poorly by another local loctician... the sectioning needs restructuring but we only had 3 hours together so I tidied up what I could. To be continued!!

01.01.2022 My little friend came in for his first tidy up today. Its been 8 weeks since I made his dreadlocks. I dont normally accept children under 15 but occasionally I do - I need to know that it is 100% the child's wishes, that the parent(s) are FULLY aware of the ongoing costs and home maintenance requirements. Most kids and teenagers are not mature enough to take care of their own dreads. The family needs to be 100% willing and able to help the child keep their dreads clean and separated. This is a wonderful example of how this CAN work under the right circumstances.
