23.01.2022 This morning we are all glued to the television to see how the Premier’s announcements affect us and our industry. It’s the announcement we’ve been waiting for, allowing us to plan a way out of strict restrictions, with a date of 1 November announced for Metropolitan Melbourne hospitality to reopen. The Premier has held the door open for that date to be brought forward depending on case numbers over the next week. From 11.59pm tonight, the Metropolitan Melbourne five-kilometr...e limit for exercise and shopping will be extended to 25 kilometres; and for our Regional hospitality businesses, they'll be able to increase capacity to be able to host up to 40 customers indoors and up to 70 outdoors. Wine Victoria will follow up with more details tomorrow - we also hope to have further updates for industry on the eligibility for the business resilience packages this week. 18.01.2022 A sigh of relief for Regional Victoria that will, from 11:59pm tomorrow, progress to the Third Step of the reopening roadmap. At this Step, there will be no restrictions on the reasons for leaving home or distances travelled, although you won’t be able to travel into areas with higher restrictions. The good news for the wine industry is that cellar doors and hospitality will be able to operate once more, and tourist accommodation will also open for regional Victorians, travelling within Regional Victoria. For those of us in the Metropolitan Melbourne zone, hang in there... Details, conditions and resources are in our newsletter that was sent out today to members - linked here.

18.01.2022 Wow this week just keeps getting better! Metropolitan Melbourne is out of lockdown, the sun is shining on the vines, and now the news that the Victorian government has extended the eligibility for the Licensed Venue Hospitality Fund to those holding a Producer's Liquor License. Our understanding is that wineries with cellar doors, restaurants, bars should now be eligible but you must have a licence and must be registered with Liquor Licencing through their portal to be invited to apply. Wait for the email that will be sent through to those who are registered to invite you to apply for funding. Wine Victoria appreciated being given the opportunity over the past weeks to fully brief the relevant Ministers and their offices on the situation and advocate on behalf of the sector.

18.01.2022 It's good news Sunday! From 11:59pm tonight, the boundary between Melbourne and regional Victoria will come down. The 25-kilometre limit will no longer be in place. And changes too for the restrictions for hospitality - restaurants, pubs and cafes will be able to host up to 40 customers indoors and 70 outdoors. Links to the Premier's statement below, and to the DHHS site. Enjoy the sunshine Victorians.

16.01.2022 We have been asked many questions over the past few days from our members in Regional Victoria as cellar doors and hospitality open up under the Third Step. We will also hold a Webinar tomorrow - Friday 18 September at 4pm - to assist members in understanding their responsibilities in re-opening. Registration details and links in the newsletter link.

09.01.2022 Under the roadmap, from 11:59pm on Sunday 13 September it will be mandatory for all businesses state-wide operating onsite to have a COVIDSafe Plan. This is a change from the current requirements for many businesses in regional Victoria who are currently advised to have a COVIDSafe Plan. Businesses with fewer than five employees are exempt from this requirement. The template and guidance material for the COVIDSafe Plan are available for download at Business Victoria

We are asking you to complete the Wine Sector International and Interstate Labour Needs in 2021 survey and tell us what labour you plan to use in the first half of 2021.
