23.01.2022 Headshots and team photos need not be boring! I loved taking these photos for the Swanky Australia team last week. While we took 'professional' headshots and team photos, the guys also had some fun and I captured these photos that they can use in their more 'human' marketing - great for social media and internal communications!

23.01.2022 Do you use hashtags in your social media posts? Hashtags allow you to be found and followed by people who may be unlikely to stumble across your posts otherwise. What are some tips for using hashtags you ask?... # don't use the same hashtags on every post, this may be deemed to be spammy and will likely limit your reach. This doesn't mean that you can't use some of the same hashtags every post, but make sure that there is some variety. # choose hashtags by doing some research. Look at what hashtags others in your industry use. Investigate hashtags you are considering and see which other businesses are using these hashtags and what posts already exist under this hashtag. # if you are struggling to think of hashtags within your industry, download the Hastagify app for some industry specific ideas.

17.01.2022 A gorgeous friend of mine got some fantastic news a couple of weeks ago. I thought that the best way to celebrate was with a @the_label_squad keepsake and a homemade caramel sponge cake. #fuckcancer #checkyourboobies #getapapsmear

16.01.2022 Facebook Beta - have you been given a sneak peek? Do you love it or hate it???

16.01.2022 THRIVE vs SURVIVE We have had this little fern for over 12 months, it has lived in almost every room in our house. We have watered, fertilised, loved and cared for this little plant, and while it is still alive, it has simply survived. ... We have questioned if it's the light or water (too much/too little)? I have wondered if it is just me, perhaps I am simply a bad plant Mum or simply can't care for ferns. I think, with the two tiny new shoots you can see in this photo, we might finally have found the right balance of water, light and love required for this little to THRIVE! This year, I want to focus on finding the right balance in my life. I want to be happy, healthy, balanced, calm and confident. Wise Owl is my passion, this year I hope to grow Wise Owl in order to focus on the skills and abilities I have, that I most enjoy and get the most satisfaction from. I am not a fan of New Year Resolutions, I feel like they set you up to fail, they are often unachievable, or set for the wrong reasons (like vanity metrics on Insta and Facebook). This year, I intend to focus on what makes me feel good. What is your intention for 2020?

14.01.2022 A quick preview of the photos we took from the #madewithlove Thermomix cooking class with Cath's Thermo Tricks tonight. A fabulous night learning about all the delicious Christmas treats a Thermie can make!

12.01.2022 After many months and years of reflection and external complaining, I have decided to make a transition this year, in starting to carve out a progressive new role within this institution. I intend to step back as a 'senior' member of my family and work to become financially independent. I will still share with hubby, I think . Although the children can now fund their own expenses, as it is their continued whining and sense of entitlement that has encouraged me to enact thi...s change. I wish my financial independence would suffice to allow me to share my time between two continents, but alas, even without supporting the children this would be a stretch. Whilst conscientiously uncoupling my responsibility to provide for my children I still love them dearly (and will still continue to foot all their bills for at least 10 years). I thank you for your continued support while I collaborate with all parties; Mr Wise Owl, Miss Wise Owl & Master Wise Owl. #megxit #sussexroyal #financiallyindependent #joke

12.01.2022 GOOGLE MY BUSINESS UPDATE: Does your business have a Google My Business listing? Do you service more than one location? ... Google has released an update whereby you now can only list a *maximum* of 20 service areas. What does this mean for you? If you have previous listed a large number of service areas for your business you will now need to revisit your list and determine which regions are MOST important to your business and update your service area accordingly (ensuring you don't exceed 20 locations). *HOT TIP* If your business has multiple, physical locations you are able to create additional locations for your business. You will then be able to add 20 service areas for each location. If you need any assistance managing your Google My Business listing pop me a dm to arrange a $99 Google My Business session.

10.01.2022 I can't help but feel a paradigm shift is presently occurring to life as we know it. While the Prime Ministers announcement this evening was nowhere near as articulate or memorable as speeches by Churchill or Martin Luther King, I can't help but feel the announcements he has made will affect the lives of Australian's more than any since the last World War. I love procedure and process, surety and security. I like to have a plan. I am completely comfortable adapting, iterati...ng and improving a plan, but I am really struggling with the uncertainty in the world right now. I am also surprised to find I feel a level of excitement and an air of possibility. So many institutions that have existed stagnant for too long will be forced to change. People, while being isolated, will need to connect on a far deeper level. I am so proud of the examples of kindness and community I am already seeing. I believe that this Virus offers us hope, a chance to change, improve and determine what is really important. For business I believe the physical shutdown offers us the time to pursue so many opportunities that we would never have taken the chance to explore. It opens our eyes to new products, services and ways of doing business. I would love to hear others points of view on the opportunities you are realising that you might not have recognised if not for #covid19

10.01.2022 REMINDER: Have you updated your holiday opening hours on Google My Business? These can be scheduled in advance, so they will automatically reflect your open hours on any given future day. ... It is also a great idea to pin a post to Facebook and post your opening hours in Insta if they are going to change from the norm. Last, but not least, update your hours on your website and add an out of office notice on your email. If you have clients who rely heavily on you, send them an email letting them know your hours over the break and if appropriate provide them a means of contacting you in an emergency.

09.01.2022 How will Coronavirus affect your business? Currently 195 people are infected within Australia and the number seems to increase by the hour. The Australian Grand Prix has been cancelled and there is talk it will be followed by the cancellation of National and International NRL and Cricket matches too.... Flight Centre have today announced the closure of 100 stores, citing Coronavirus as the cause. If your industry relies on travel, large congregations of people or is based in a large shopping centre you may already be feeling Coronavirus' effects. I would love to hear below what effects you are already experiencing and what contingency plans you are putting in place...

09.01.2022 I have been really absent on Social Media for the last couple of months. What most of you won't know is that on Easter Sunday, playing with my daughter in the back yard, I suffered a traumatic head injury. I didn't lose consciousness and as such waived it off as a big bruise and a bit of a headache. ... I pushed through and kept working for a week, the headache got worse, I was dizzy and struggling to concentrate. I booked a Doctor's appointment and was sent home, diagnosed with a concussion to rest. I slept for the best part of 8 days straight. I couldn't stand light or noise. Looking at a screen was physically painful, I kept waking myself up with a falling sensation and when I moved my head my brain HURT. It has taken weeks of sleep, rest, brain and neck exercises (turns out a neck injury was adding to my issues but not initially diagnosed as I had no neck pain) and I am finally back to feeling a bit like myself. I drove for the first time on Wednesday, it was a 16 minute round trip, I came home and had a nap. I can now stand up without the headache getting worse, moving around helps, but screens still make me exhausted and I am not quite like I was. Wise Owl is still operating for my existing clients but big changes are coming and they will likely allow me to offer a more comprehensive and specialised service - although I am not quite sure what that looks like yet. I can't wait to nut out the details and share them with you all. Kate

05.01.2022 Is your business still operating? Are you still marketing? In a situation, like we currently face, many businesses feel guilty advertising. They feel that it makes them appear as if they are profiting from a bad circumstance. ... But don't ball up your #marketingstrategy just yet... I would love to hear whether you or other businesses that you know have had this thought and how you chose to move forward? Are you still advertising? The truth is, in a situation like we currently face, it is more important than ever to maintain a #digitalmarketing and #socialmedia presence for your business. While it may be pertinent to be more thoughtful with regard to what and how you are advertising. If you are struggling to know what is and isn't appropriate or just need some ideas on what you can do to maintain your #onlinepresence during this time - reach out - I would love to brainstorm some ideas with you!
