14.01.2022 So here's the post you've all been waiting for.... Wombat is excited, and not just because it's his birthday today! He's excited because we're going back to ...shooting!! Next Sunday 18th of October is our 100 target Anniversary shoot, and we couldn't let this month go by without celebrating that. The targets will be shot over 2 rounds of 50 and we will NOT have any canteen facilities available, so you will need to pack all of your food and drinks for the day. The days shooting will be kicking off early with the first squad being sent at 8:30am. Pre-noms will open in the next day or so, but we will be capping attendance to ensure we can follow our Covid Safe Plan. Also for our Victorian friends - If you do not live in the Border Region and are not eligible for a Border Region Resident Permit you will not be able to attend. Victorians will need the correct permit to be able to cross the bridge to get to the club. We will pop another post up when noms open, which will have a run down on our Covid plan and what we expect from you all if you attend. We are so excited to see you all again!! See more

08.01.2022 So we would like to think that Field & Game members would do the right thing, but just a reminder that if you have been to any of the below high risk locations ...in Shepparton on the dates listed, please get yourself tested and follow the guidelines on staying home. If you were at any of the casual contact venues please monitor yourself and if you show any symptom at all, no matter how mild, get tested and stay home until you get the all clear. A days shooting is not worth putting others at risk! If you have already completed your pre nom and cannot attend due to this, please let me know and I will refund your money. See more

07.01.2022 The Campaign Starts! Answer the call! With the much anticipated 2021 duck season merely a few months away the campaign starts to educate and to prosecute the tr...ue reality and impacts of duck hunting. The first shot of the campaign was the release of Blood Origins - a project launched to tell the "truth about hunters" with a video called The Proof, a snapshot of the impact hunters have had in restoring the Heart Morass in Gippsland, Victoria To watch the video: https://www.fieldandgame.com.au//13816/the-proof-and-truth This time of year we see those that don't want to have a respectful conversation around duck hunting, or seek to respect the traditions of many Australians, over many generations, pedal out the same rhetoric. They choose to throw around terms like 'eco tourism' or 'unsustainable' or they ask the question around the 'small duck-shooting fraternity'. These terms are not new, they are not based on facts, they are not based on respect for Australians, and they lack, for the want of a better term, substance. The time to stand up and speak the truth is now! What these groups fail to say, fail to recognise, or just choose to ignore, are the facts, here are 9 facts: 1. The value of Duck Hunting to the Regional Victorian economy (based on the DEPI 2013 Report) accounts for around $106.3M. 2. Hunter numbers (across all activities) are increasing with around 26,000 recreational duck hunters in Victoria alone. 3. Hunters are one of the most highly regulated cohort of Australians. 4. Hunters time, effort and money saved Victorian's State Game Reserves. 5. Hunters respect the law and comply with regulations. 6. Hunters only take what they need. No more and no less. 7. Hunters are the true conservationists because hunters use the game they have harvested for food. 8. Hunters actually get out there into wetlands and deliver real projects, restoring and conserving habitat. 9. FGA has partnered with Deakin University to study the migration pattern of ducks. So while those that oppose hunting sit back and throw unsubstantiated disrespectful comments around, maybe they would be better off putting their time and effort in to wetland project alongside hunters, and give something back to the environment. That is of course as soon as they can get out of the 25km metro ring of steel. We will be announcing in the coming weeks what we will be doing in the lead up to the season. In the meantime please write to your local MP. Tell them what hunting means to you and your family. Explain that hunting is not only recreation, supplies free range food, but is also a generational tradition. I'm proud to be an Australian. I'm proud to be a Hunter. I'm proud to fight for the traditions I believe in. #proudtohunt #fga #huntersunited #dispelthemyth #theproof #truthnotfiction #honestdiscussions #australiasmostsurprisingconservationists

05.01.2022 So just a quick update tonight... Our November shoot will be 75 target handicap held next Sunday the 15th, with the first squad going at 10am and then the foll...owing squads will go every 10 minutes after that to ensure social distancing. If you need a refresher on what we expect from those attending, scroll back through our posts to the one just before our October shoot. We are only taking pre-noms via MCMS which will open tomorrow night and will close Friday night, or when we reach 15 squads - whichever comes first. I'll pop a post on here when our noms are open tomorrow night Due to the NSW border being closed until the 23rd of November, those Victorians not living in the border bubble will be unable to get a Border Region Resident Permit and will still not be able to attend. We look forward to seeing you all after the borders reopen! See more
