22.01.2022 I’m so pleased to have been a part of getting this sanctuary for the wombats.

22.01.2022 Timmy was the first wombat to teach me, that wombats can bonk all night long the poor pillows and lounge....felt like I was back on a contiki tour

20.01.2022 Flossy my bigger girl had a nasty tummy bug when she was an orphan. It effected her ability to absorb nutrients and although she is better, she struggles when g...oing through a growth spurt. She moves back on in with her Ma for her medicine Of course my faithful companion Anne is never far away

19.01.2022 This poor girl was seen running along a main road in Murray Bridge last night. She was way, way, way away from wombat country and very disorientated but thankfu...lly an animal loving family saw her and stayed with her trying to slow traffic down to keep her safe. After a quick phone call, we asked them to pop a blankie over her and pick her up to keep her safe until we arrived and that is exactly what happened We don't know her history. She is wild, terrified and very lost. Unfortunately, as we don't know where she has come from, trying to release her would result in her being lost again or even worse. Wombats are viciously territorial and we have no other option but to release her here in our sanctuary so she is safe and can choose how she wishes to live. Every single year, we take in homeless wombats like this beautiful lady. Some are now having babies of their own, some have turned ridiculously friendly and our girl from last year Jhane who hid in a cardboard box on a goat farm is just starting to trust us. We have asked the kind and beautiful daughter of the rescue family to choose a name for this love I am very happy to say this wombat went from being really anxious and jumpy last night to eating her breaky this morning and tucked herself into a comfy bed I will keep you posted on her progress. I can't tell you how grateful I am to this family who saved her life and for her to be safe, warm and dry through this very, very wet weather. Welcome love *Update * This is Porky See more

16.01.2022 Now for the rest of Australia to follow

13.01.2022 Eight weeks ago, Clare found our darling girl Sue dying down her burrow. She had dragged herself as close as she could to the entrance but collapsed 3 metres d...own. We had no option but to make the burrow big enough for one of us to climb down to her. We could not use anything noisy, not even shovels as she could have gotten a fright and rolled down into her burrow abyss. So we grabbed what knives we could from the kitchen drawer and started carving out the burrow roof and walls. It took four hours and at 2.30 am, we pulled Sue out of her burrow. Sue was too critical to even take to the vet so we had the vet visit her. She had a nasty gastrointestinal infection and we nursed her around the clock. She is a superb patient Today Sue is happy to be here, happy to be alive and we are incredibly grateful See more

01.01.2022 This is such a heart warming story - I truly believe that WAO have the most respectful relationship with their wombats. I’m not surprised that they will always find their way home.
