06.01.2022 MANGE - WHAT IT CAN DO Never Easy This poor boy was suffering for a while ... even though his mange was not sever, it took its toll - he was emaciated, so skinny we could nearly see every bone in his body. He was barley breathing the flys had found him - his eyes were crawling with tiny maggots I picked him up sooo gently and placed him in the tub - he barley moved The only thing we could do for this poor boy to was euthanise him and end his suffering Please if you see a wombat out during the day - report it straight away.

02.01.2022 Another orphan due to the roads Great job to the rescuers Hope she’s settling in well with her new carer

01.01.2022 Starting off early this morning it was pleasing to see a large health wombat waddling off like it owned the world. I thought its going to be a great positive d...ay. With only one report in the area and this needed a late follow up we though we would do some after care checks. The one we treated last week was the first burrow, this channelled under the main highway to an area Vanessa thought she'd investigate i heard her yell. A large ferral cat had sprung out of the tussocks and frightened her. Came back to the car saying a few choice words. Moving on we travelled a back road where we had a report but hadn't been successful in finding this wombat, beautiful green grass, the incare wombats will love it, a gust of wind came there goes Vanessa's hat, boy shes fast. Hat back grass stored in the ute we are off again. Another animal spotted ,an achinda, another yell, you probably guessed a jack jumper nest, the bites were on the sole of her foot (I noticed shoes were worn for awhile after this.) Oh we did come across two pups in a hurry to get home. Just came out of a gully and the phone rang, another report, this wombat with mange had been captured could we help 18 minutes away. On the way we saw someone else's humour on a tree, on to the wombat. This beautiful big wombat was in need of help, so into treatment mode and then he was ready for release. The day was full of surprises an echidna couldn't quite make it up a rocky bank Vanessa's there to help, shoes off, those toes gripped as she climbed the rocks. As we travelled back to her car the day wasn't finished, a snake was lying on the road, she just had to pick it up, that was not the only snake for the day. But this day was coming to an end with both of us having approx 70km to travel in different directions and I had evening feeds to do it was time to wind it up another great day, with an amazing fun filled, caring person, what could be better.
