25.01.2022 What Drives Winning is an annual conference where successful coaches and support staff share their experiences and knowledge. Follow the link below to check out some great talks full of information, some of which include inspirational female coaches. https://whatdriveswinning.com/

24.01.2022 If youre not aware of Title IX in the US read up on it. Basically the government brought in rules that meant schools and universities had to put equal funding into male and female sports. So what do you think the outcome of that was for female coaches? Well, an increase in money being directed towards womens teams meant the men wanted in, so female coach numbers dropped dramatically and continue to do so. Here in Aus we are already at a really low base for female coaches, and unfortunately the professionalisation of more female sports could just result in more paid roles for the men. Lets hope not! http://www.adelaidenow.com.au//001f95f12c29bd875f0f58f20f5

24.01.2022 Great news, and great steps towards hopefully a woman in the Head Coach role in years to come. Time for the State Bodies to stand up now - lets get some women coaches involved in the WBBL! https://www.cricket.com.au//shelley-nitschke-au/2018-05-18

24.01.2022 Great club, great opportunity EMP Bombers

24.01.2022 Amazing opportunities exist for female athletes now compared to when this legend was first identified. As coaches we are role models and mentors for the current batch of talented girls coming through the system. It's so important that we not only encourage them, but make them aware that they are a select few, and to not take these opportunities for granted, but to cherish them. https://www.facebook.com/PlayersVoice/posts/382110188871542

23.01.2022 This. They cant ignore the athletes anymore because theres such public support for #womeninsport at the moment. But they can ignore the administration roles because theyre not called out on it enough. We need more articles like this!

22.01.2022 Great news, a step closer to another female AFLW coach.

21.01.2022 Endless benefits of having a female coach - but also of having female umpires and officials. AFL Victoria have just launched their Female Umpire Academy project, raising funds to develop young umpires through coaching and training session https://asf.org.au/projects/afl-victoria/

20.01.2022 Good opportunity here: Junior cricket female coordinator & coach role. http://strathmore.vic.cricket.com.au/pageitem.aspx

19.01.2022 CELEBRATING WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP Why not chase your dreams? - that was this years theme at the annual womens forum in in Kalgoorlie today. More than 300 hundre...d women from across the state gathered to hear from inspirational women Professor Fiona Wood and former Fremantle Dockers coach Michelle Cowan. See more

19.01.2022 This is 3 years old but still worth a watch. "They look at what I don't have instead of what I do have" https://youtu.be/zcwOlvM99-M

19.01.2022 Any Level 2 AFL coaches - heres a fantastic coaching opportunity! https://www.seek.com.au/job/33997188

17.01.2022 Ha ha . Some of these could come in handy in the coaching world.... http://thecooperreview.com/non-threatening-leadership-stra/

17.01.2022 Yes . A big reason women still don't apply for roles, along with believing they have no chance of being selected anyway. Those at the top can be #championsofchange so more women coaches get opportunities.

17.01.2022 It's so often forgotten by coaches that different methods work for different genders. "Men tend to get more fired up so if you are coaching a man you might say 'you're not good enough, I know you can do better than that, you need to run faster', whereas if you say that to a woman they will just hear 'I'm not good enough' and walk off the track in tears." https://amp.independent.ie//paula-radcliffe-women-will-flo

17.01.2022 Still a long way to go...... good on you Andy Murray for consistently discussing these issues. http://www.independent.co.uk//andy-murray-tennis-equal-pay

17.01.2022 "Coaches are key - they need support and training on how to promote and support diversity among the club's players"

17.01.2022 Nakase got this coaching role because the (male) head coach had worked with her previously and saw value in her. It just takes opportunities like these to arise for more female coaches and the possibilities are endless. That's why WSCA is working towards establishing a female coach mentoring program. Watch this space......

15.01.2022 Im sure youll all relate to this, but good information to pass on to parents...

14.01.2022 I love support for female coaches but the message needs to be better. Caroline Wilsons comment at 2.05 perpetuates the issue. Research shows that women who have ACTUALLY been coached by women do not necessarily prefer men, so we MUST allow them the chance to experience that. https://twitter.com/offsidersabc/status/987869589185822720

14.01.2022 This is a fantastic initiative by NZ Football with the introduction of female only Level 2 coaching courses. This is one of the aims of WSCA - we hope to work with Australian sports bodies to do the same. In addition, we will be encouraging them to include content within all of their accreditation courses aimed at teaching awareness of the different approaches required when coaching depending on the athlete's gender. http://www.nzfootball.co.nz/female-environment-brings-bene/

13.01.2022 A good watch - discusses a range of issues we need to consider as coaches.

12.01.2022 Where are the female coaches? This is one area we need to see far greater growth.

11.01.2022 If you didnt watch it tonight Id recommend catching up on SBS on Demand. Great insight into how the human mind reacts as a competitor. Invaluable information for interpreting what may work to motivate your individual athletes. http://www.sbs.com.au//Michael-Mosleys-Meet-The-Humans-ep-1

10.01.2022 This is the first time Ive seen an article on the disparity between male and female coach numbers in Aus in the mainstream media. Hopefully an indication that awareness and change may be about to begin? ".....a six-year AIS longitudinal study shows the attributes needed for successful coaching are gender-neutral. The cost of so few women coaches is double: the careers of potential top coaches are stymied and young athletes are denied female mentors and role models." http://www.theaustralian.com.au//12d448b431335efb7f11971e8
