21.01.2022 Alice Broster at Forbes discusses some of the reasons why it can take so long to be diagnosed with endometriosis. Quoting Lone Hummelshoj from World Endometrio...sis Society & World Endometriosis Research Foundation, The normalisation of painful symptoms is a huge issue. And there’s still a very low recognition of endometriosis at the general practitioner level. That’s where a young woman would go with her painful symptoms, If these symptoms are dismissed as primary dysmenorrhea, which it may be for some people, then a doctor won’t investigate further and this contributes to the delay in diagnosis and timely management of symptomatic endometriosis. We recommend reading the full article. You can find the link below. https://www.forbes.com//why-it-takes-so-long-to-be-diagn/

18.01.2022 There's still time to register for our Walk n Talk event for awareness week. This year the theme is journeys with the Australasian Birth Trauma Association (...ABTA) aiming to raise vital funds by calling on everyone that has been impacted by birth-related trauma to share their journeys and #starttheconversation. The ABTA wants families to know that they are not alone on this journey and that every story matters. While walking, talking and enjoying the great outdoors (or even walking 5000 steps at home) participants are encouraged to seek sponsors to help the ABTA raise $50,000 in order to provide Australian and New Zealand women with free access to our Peer-2-Peer Meets specialised birth trauma support program. Sign up here: https://fundraise.birthtrauma.org.au/event/walkntalk/ Or support the movement by purchasing a t-shirt: https://www.redbubble.com/shop/ap/54578433?asc=u I am so grateful this type of program is available and at no cost. I feel there is a lot of value in the P2P support group and I wish it could be easily accessible and provided within the first few weeks or months postpartum. This will allow future mothers (and partners) to feel like they are not alone and may even prevent and ease anxiety, depression, sense of isolation and unnecessary prolonged physical injuries by seeking help early post birth. I feel I am now able to view my experience in a different way that has helped me decide that I can have a second child without my past experience holding me back. Thank you to everyone involved who facilitates the support groups. - Kerry The ABTA is almost entirely funded by donations, so every dollar matters.

18.01.2022 Anxiety is something that can add to your pain story. Your Pelvis is often tuned into your anxiety well before you. Help is available.

15.01.2022 Today is World Maternal Mental Health Day, raising awareness of maternal mental health issues so that more women will get treatment and fewer will suffer. Its ...a great reminder to check in on the way you are feeling, and to consider if you might need some extra support. One of the tricky things about having depression and/or anxiety as a new or expecting parent is that many symptoms can look similar to what most people experience at this time e.g. feeling tired, a bit irritable or emotional, or worrying about babys health. To see if what youre experiencing or observing in a loved one could be a reason to seek help, fill out a short mental health checklist: www.panda.org.au/info-support/checklists Image: An illustration of a family of three sitting together on the floor of their home. The room is untidy and lived in, but everyone looks calm. The time on the clock is 2.16am. Theres some handwriting on the image that says doing your best is enough. 14.01.2022 As it is pain week I thought I would share some info on how to poop better and minimise any pain. Constipation can certainly be a pain in the Butt but also contribute to back pain, belly pain and pelvic pain. We actually dont know this stuff like we think we do. Good daily bowel habits - Fibres, Fluid and Fitness are important to keep things moving but technique is also a game changer.... If you dont have a squatty potty you can use a small stool/ books /toilet rolls or anything to elevate your feet.

06.01.2022 Perinatal mental health is too often shrouded in stigma. Becoming a new parent is 'supposed' to be a time of great joy, and of course, it is. "We're here, we're listening". We invite you to share your story if you can relate to today's theme for Perinatal Mental Health Week 2020. #pmhw2020 #perinatalmentalhealth #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #mentalhealthawareness
