24.01.2022 This is a really interesting idea from the City of Burnside. Despite everyone being able to enjoy the benefits that significant trees bring, the costs themselve...s are unfortunately, purely placed onto the landholder meaning many will choose to remove the tree rather than have it properly maintained. The City of Burnside is the first council I have seen that is providing grant money to owners of significant trees to assist with their maintenance. Do you think that other councils like the City of Mitcham should implement something similar? See more

18.01.2022 Some FANTASTIC news from the City of Unley! Last week, the council endorsed the plan of increasing their tree canopy by 20% by 2045 inline with the goal set out... in the 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide. The council will spend around $195,000 on new plantings in 2019/20 plus another $700,000 for other tree-related initiatives. Hopefully other councils such as the City of Mitcham, City of Marion and City of Onkaparinga will follow suit!

12.01.2022 Assets? You had better believe it! Urban tree canopies are worth millions. While there is no formal way to value such an asset, The City of Burnside puts the value of their canopy at a whopping $250 million.

10.01.2022 A suburban council in Adelaide’s east has hired an arborist to keep a watchful eye over SA Power Network as it prunes trees near powerlines, to ensure there are no ugly cut-backs. [FREE TO READ] Story from Messenger East.
