24.01.2022 Progress with the anti-parrot/cockatoo netting...the gaps in the top where the two nets join are big enough for honey eaters and insect eaters plus the very imp...ortant bees...but not the fruit and veggie vandals! Bit of finishing off to do (secure sides so it is completely enclosed) and voila! See more

22.01.2022 Justin Corbidge and I are a good team...I design, he builds...today, these garden gates got a cute latch, made from a redgum fence dropper, and a redgum branch ...& root I debarked for the handle. Then after a lot of ‘discussion’ we got the frame up for the bird netting to be stretched over, to keep those pesky parrots and cockatoos off the fruit trees and veggie plants. Hope to have it finished tomorrow. See more

20.01.2022 So this morning we did this...not without a bit of...ahem...swearing. I love it! It is exactly as I imagined when I started looking for one of these a year ago......now to get the ‘tail’ done...I have an idea for that, will reveal when its done. How Aussie is this though? I even love its damaged wavey bit... See more

17.01.2022 Inspired by my friend Lou, I googled pickling beetroot and now I am in the middle of a new experiment!

14.01.2022 Today is the Spring Equinox here in the southern hemisphere...and the autumn equinox in the northern hemisphere...making today the REAL first day of Spring here...! In true spring like fashion, we have rain again after a few glorious sunny days! The garden is happy...the trees are happy and the creeks and waterholes are full of frog spawn! See more

13.01.2022 My morning harvest...time for coleslaw and sauerkraut!

12.01.2022 From garden to storage room for fermenting...’Bad Cabbage’ (aka Sauerkraut) is in process!

11.01.2022 My favourite time of day...the ‘golden hour’ just before sunset...the paddocks look glorious. Our evening ‘commuters’ like grazing at this time too...there are a lot of joeys in pouches atm, a sign of a good season.

09.01.2022 Justin Corbidge and I took a long walk around the property (about a quarter of it) from the horse paddock, past the house dam where we spotted the duck family (...5 ducklings left) over to the ‘fish dam’ to see if we could spot the 9 duckling family (only spotted mumma duck playing decoy when she spotted us) stopped for a snack and for me to take some more photos of our ancient redgums for my redgum indentification project. Then we headed down to the ‘south dam’ in the covenant area to discover the 50mls of rain has filled the dam, and overflowed to form the ‘billabong’ adjoining it. The sound of frogs and birds was music to our ears... See more

08.01.2022 Theres a love triangle developing now...uh oh.

06.01.2022 Justin managed one more job before dark...the one he was supposed to be doing when I sidetracked him into collecting the two old windmills from the tip...the horses came and helped, I took photos and shooed them off his tools! Now the awkward dangerous corner is gone!

06.01.2022 #dropyourbeautifulhorseheadchallenge ok, I will join in...so many to choose from though...

03.01.2022 Oh I love me a good find or two at the tip....been looking for one of these beauties for months! Got 2 practically for free at Cavendish transfer station! AND a roll of almost brand new wire for the foal paddock...sorry Jus, the projects are still coming!

02.01.2022 In all the craziness this week...I forgot to post a photo of the repaired Woolshed verandah...one week later! Justin is a bloody miracle worker! Thanks to Tom L...aidlaw for his help...and moi of course. Just got to order new guttering and put in some lattice on the rails and its done! (Before photos last for comparison) See more

02.01.2022 Ooo, my turn! Here is my beautiful AAA Appaloosa ‘Frogrock Revolution’ aka ‘Soleil’ who is booked to be served by Lucio this season...she is 1/4 Trakehner, 16:1... hh so I am hoping for a tall horse for myself, with plenty of movement! She has already given me a lovely filly by cremello QH stallion Fortunate Roc, who we call Luna, a palomino with a few white spots. Should produce another palomino with or without spots. See more
