25.01.2022 Tasmanian borders reopen tomorrow. #thewoodbridgetasmania

24.01.2022 Mid-morning gardening at #thewoodbridgetasmania and another day of lovely sunshine (we have had a few days where the cold fog hasnt lifted, but I love the mystery of those days also - as a child I called it pirate weather because I think we always saw the pirate ships emerging from hiding in the mist in the movies)

24.01.2022 #thewoodbridgetasmania getting ready for Spring already

24.01.2022 Nature reacted to the news that Tasmania plans to open its borders at the end of July, all going well. Light at the end of the tunnel at #thewoodbridgetasmania

22.01.2022 Fabulous #helicopterflights are taking #thewoodbridgetasmania guests off to explore the beautiful #derwentvalleytasmania #hobartandbeyond and the farther reaches of #tasmania Landing on the foreshore at The Woodbridge is an #unquestionablyderwentvalley #luxuryexperience The latest addition to our #softadventure series is #helitour to do a #mariaislandwalk right from your #luxuryhotel doorstep, without spending hours driving to get there. Plan a #luxurygetaway and #discovertasmania

21.01.2022 In its second reincarnation, after his most unfortunate incarceration forced the first owner to sell, #thewoodbridgetasmania became an academy for young gentlemen. These days we are much more #inclusive . We do not mind if our guests are male or female, young or old, married or even reputable .... but then, we do charge a tad more than 35 quid!

21.01.2022 At #thewoodbridgetasmania

21.01.2022 Dreaming of a Spring getaways on what today is a cold winters day at #thewoodbridgetasmania

21.01.2022 Winters afternoon at #thewoodbridgetasmania

20.01.2022 All set up for #covidsafe #socialdistancing #dining at #thewoodbridge Thankfully our beautiful #riversidedining #pavilion is very spacious, and we usually seat everyone with lovely #riverviews which is why #guestsloveus #greatfoodgreatcompany #greatmoments

20.01.2022 We still have a few rooms left for Tasmanians wishing to getaway in November using our BreakFree 30% savings package+ hopefully the Tassie Govt Holiday at home vouchers ..... if you were lucky enough to get them. We look forward ti welcoming mainlanders from December.

20.01.2022 You are not supposed to let the #herbs in the #herbgarden at #thewoodbridgetasmania go to seed, but the flowers are so pretty, and great for the chefs to put on the plates

20.01.2022 One day we will be serving dinner to our #thewoodbridgetasmania guests again

20.01.2022 I recently rewatched Pride & Prejudice for the umpteenth time, and couldn’t help but think of them all at #thewoodbridgetasmania This 1805 fashion plate is one of the many original pieces in the ballroom.

20.01.2022 All roads lead to #thewoodbridgetasmania ? Latest advice is that Tasmania will reopen borders 31 July (back one week because of mainland breakout). Woodbridge will reopen from October. Love this image (thanks New Norfolk Memories) of Woodbridge beside the two old bridges, the first bridge across the derwent (1834) on the left, and the second bridge just opened (1850s ?). The octagonal Toll House on the left still stands, as does the ferrymans cottage across river, hidden behind big fir tree on left.

20.01.2022 Days are short at #thewoodbridgetasmania at this time of year. Mid-afternoon and the day is getting ready to go under the doona.

19.01.2022 This weekend we welcomed our first guests in 8 months. #covidsafetymeasures have meant many changed, including the removal of excess linens like the beautiful #silkcushions in guest rooms of our #boutiquehotel We #covid19australia we have all erred on the side of caution, and #thewoodbridgetasmania is no exception. We just hope our #luxurytravellers agree that #bettersafethansorry and appreciate our new #minimalistluxury decor

19.01.2022 Mini explosions leave us in no doubt that we need the fireguard. Our fireguards have been handmade using the original #thewoodbridgetasmania house insignia

19.01.2022 We dont really mind how you arrive, as long as you come #thewoodbridgetasmania reopens from October Thanks @derwentvalleytasmania for the great image

18.01.2022 Meanwhile, we are starting to hear from lots of you .... I think we are all bursting to Break Free! We are happy to take your tentative reservations and pencil you in until we have our booking platform live again. We plan to reopen October.

18.01.2022 Looking forward to welcoming people back to #thewoodbridgetasmania in October

17.01.2022 Inside the lovely Arches room at #thewoodbridgetasmania which opens onto the Wisteria Garden Terrace overlooking the river.

17.01.2022 At this time of year, #tasmania is so, so green. Everything is #lush and grows like crazy. Our #firstguests #postcovid19 could have been forgiven for thinking the #gardeners were harvesting hay, there were such huge piles of clippings after they mowed tge #riverside #foreshore We are so grateful that #guestsloveus and it has been wonderful to #welcomeback #guests to our #smallluxuryhotel in the #scenic #derwentvalleytasmania which abounds in #vineyards #distilleries #wilderness and #softadventure - something for everyone. Our #smallcountrytown of #newnorfolk (that is #newnorfolktasmania) boasts the #agrariankitchen and many #antiqueshops and is full of #tasmanianhistory being one of the #oldest #tassie towns

17.01.2022 For those of you who do not have an open wood fireplace like we do at #thewoodbridgetasmania

16.01.2022 Tas borders now scheduled to open to NSW on 6 November

16.01.2022 Late afternoon #thewoodbridgetasmania

16.01.2022 Our fly fishing experiences are proving very popular this season. Is this because people have been locked down and they are eager to try something new, or are we all subconsciously preparing to be hunter gatherers if Covid economy goes too bad? #thewoodbridgetasmania

16.01.2022 A visitor to #thewoodbridgetasmania yesterday commented on the attention to detail. It is always a good idea to start with a couple of common themes, as we did with the the lines and squares of the Georgian windows. The original old doors already reflected this, and we just continues the theme. This is the lovely Capt Roadknight room.

15.01.2022 It looks as peaceful as a millpond .... hard to believe #thewoodbridgetasmania is on the mighty Derwent River

15.01.2022 Recently found this #fabulousshot I just love #oldpics of #thewoodbridgetasmania because she is totally integral to the #history of #tasmania That is her next to the first #woodenbridge across the #derwentriver built by the third owner of The Woodbridge in 1834. Guess he named ‘Woodbridge’ then. It was a toll bridge built by Sharland with a group of business friends, and the toll collection house is across the other side of the river. Opposite The Woodbridge, on the same sid...e of the #river , is the #oldcottage where there ferryman lived. He would row out to get the passengers from ships that moored at the top of the tide in front of The Woodbridge. Across the river you can see storage sheds for produce as well as acres of #hopfields Our #derwentvalleytasmania is the home of hops in Australia. There are many fake #historichotels but The Woodbridge is #authentic down to its #handmadebricks to its hand forged nails. See more

15.01.2022 Yeah! Just got off the first non-quarantine plane back into Tas

14.01.2022 Guess what is on for dinner tonight at #thewoodbridgetasmania #smallluxuryhotel Tonight is our first #welcomeguests #postcovid19 - We have been closed for 8 months. So looking forward to having our riverside Pavilion alive to the sounds of #elegantdining again

14.01.2022 Start planning now because the #thewoodbridgetasmania Break Free packages will be going live later this month.

14.01.2022 So looking forward to welcoming guests back to #thewoodbridgetasmania in October

14.01.2022 Another of the exquisite original artworks from our private collections which are on display at #thewoodbridgetasmania This - a multi-media collage on miniatures of the life of a bowerbird.

13.01.2022 #thewoodbridgetasmania reopens next week. Time to get into the kitchen and start planning. Planning not only food design but also covid planning - it changes the whole ballgame, everything from how we serve our guests to how staff socially distance. Covid planning is intense.

13.01.2022 Ooh it was chilly at #thewoodbridgetasmania today

12.01.2022 Wonderful news .... Tasmania border opening is planned for 26 July .... all going well. However, as usual, #thewoodbridgetasmania will not reopen until the Spring. We will soon have our Break Free packages online, but in the meantime you can make a tentative booking by emailing or DM us. So looking forward to welcoming smiling faces.

12.01.2022 Love this clear winters morning image of #thewoodbridgetasmania taken by @derwentvalleysup

10.01.2022 Delighted that @welcomeswallowbrewery has joined the growing food and beverage scene that is on offer for the guests at #thewoodbridgetasmania

10.01.2022 Looks like another #perfectday for #gettingoutdoors and enjoying some premium #tasmanianwine sitting under the almond trees at #thewoodbridgetasmania It is true that the weather is #tasmania can be mercurial, but #mostdays it is #justperfect Our guests often gather here in the #lateafternoonlight to #relaxandunwind #lifeisgood

10.01.2022 Winter at #thewoodbridgetasmania through original 1825 windows. It must have been pretty bleak back then, in the days before central heating, reverse cycle air conditioners and bath tubs with running hot water .... fireplaces are lovely, but they are not nearly as efficient.

10.01.2022 Tasmania has again delayed opening its borders, until 31 August. We will review our reopening accordingly, and hope to be able to welcome guests soon.

08.01.2022 We are so ready to break out .... but safely!

07.01.2022 I have spent the last few days in the mountains and wilderness, checking out new experiences for #thewoodbridgetasmania guests. Thank you @derwentvalleytasmania for inspiring me with this image

06.01.2022 Views from the windows of #thewoodbridgetasmania always tell you what season it is.

05.01.2022 Bumpjng up to be ready to welcome guests back to #thewoodbridgetasmania

05.01.2022 The garden is moving into full bloom. But, in winter, someone made the mistake of using horse poo from a friend’s beautiful arabs ... some pretty serious wild grass elimination ongoing now! EVERYTHING loved the manure!

05.01.2022 This is one very eager jasmin at #thewoodbridgetasmania Does it think it is spring already?

05.01.2022 #perfectafternoon in the #pavilion at #thewoodbridgetasmania sipping #pinkgin

05.01.2022 Remembering life before Covid was abuzz with activity at #thewoodbridgetasmania

05.01.2022 Autumn is officially over and winter settles onto #thewoodbridgetasmania Everyone is asking if we are reopening soon .... not until it is WARMER .... October

05.01.2022 What a marathon, and well done you! And thankfully we still have a couple of silly season dates available: An IN 26/12 - OUT 29/12 option, an IN 30/12 - Out 2/1 option or a 26/12 - 2/1 option

04.01.2022 Some serious gardening coming up at #thewoodbridgetasmania

04.01.2022 Can you imagine yourself pedalling along the river in front of #thewoodbridgetasmania later this year? We reopen October and these little beauties will be waiting for you thanks to @pedalmore_hydrobikes

04.01.2022 Looking forward to being able to welcome guests back to the wisteria terrace at #thewoodbridgetasmania The premier has just announced that 1 December will definitely see the Tassie borders opened, so this weekend we will move to open up our online reservations platform.

04.01.2022 The Pavilion in the pale sun of a winters afternoon at #thewoodbridgetasmania

03.01.2022 But then, this is #thewoodbridgetasmania today at 10.30am, a study of thick fog and iced trees

03.01.2022 A recent visitor to #thewoodbridgetasmania commented on how much they loved this antique Chinese painting ... obviously someone of some note in their day. It is part of the Chinoise overlay in the Ballroom, as was the fashion in Victorian England

03.01.2022 Meet Cameron @derwentvalleysup who will teach you to paddleboard on the river in front of #thewoodbridgetasmania

03.01.2022 Looking forward to seaplanes visiting #thewoodbridgetasmania again soon. 26 October welcomes SA WA NT QLD ACT to Tassie. Hope NSW & VIC soon.

02.01.2022 Repurposed, recycled, restyled, reloved at #thewoodbridgetasmania A piano stool full of old , old sheet music was bequeathed to me by an elderly friend. They now adorn the Ballroom.

01.01.2022 A firm favourite with guests at #thewoodbridgetasmania #succulent is a must, and is achieved by closely watching for signs that the white protein foam is forming at the side. Then immediately off the heat to continue cooking in its own heat. Whether #tasmaniansalmon or #oceantrout , it should be pink and moist and not overcooked to be pale and dry ... that breaks a chef’s heart.
