22.01.2022 This morning we had a visitor to the OSHC and it settled the children's question about who had been eating the honey cakes.. A Possum.. The children watched in awe as the Possum with great dexterity pulled on the string to hoist the cake parcels up. Together we talked about the Possum' s attributes noticing his tail, how he handled the food and commenting on his ears. 16.01.2022 How did the Woodcrest Osch children support Daffodil Day? - Each year, on the fourth Friday in August, thousands of Australians support Daffodil Day and fund world class cancer research to find new ways to better detect, treat and defeat cancer. At Woodcrest Oshc the children created a colourful poster to help promote the day for staff at the Woodcrest State College school, who were fundraising for this important event. Our children also created works of art for families at the Ronald McDonald house to show they care. Community https://www.daffadilday.com.au

14.01.2022 Music Music Everywhere especially at Woodcrest OSHC... Music stimulates the various senses and helps children in learning and improving language skills. Music also develops listening, reading and writing skills, improving fluency of speech, and communication. Through singing songs, kids can learn new words in a fun way and of course learn how to pronounce them. Most importantly Woodcrest OSHC supports a life long appreciation of music for leisure. 14.01.2022 'Common Brushtail Possums' by Greg Reid..This morning the children at Woodcrest OSHC decided to visit the library and look for some animal books. The children were meet by Miss Kiplin who works in the school library. The children looked at many books and found a book on Possums. After asking permission to borrow the book the children took their book back to share with the other children. Many facts were found in the book; such as Possums are marsupials and they carry their yo...ung in their pouch. Educators told the children that the library and books is one of the ways that we can find out all types of information. Educators at Woodcrest OSHC scaffold the children's learning and promote life long learners. Community 'My Time Our Place'
