24.01.2022 Our man Barry Palmer has sent through his report for today. With the warm weather there were likely (quoting the 12th man doing Tony Greig) a few sweaty jock straps on course. It’s always a good day when Ron Jackson is in the winners circle and it was one today.... Ron managed to overcome the omnipresent Kevin Glassenbury (runner up) and Eric Vosbergen in the 3 way countback. All had 39 points on the day. Thanks to Barry for his report and as always our new Captain Neville Bottams (aka Nifty Bricklaying) for helping to fund Ron’s rockstar lifestyle. A reminder also that Saturday is our end of year breakup (although golf continues as normal) with a 3 person Ambrose. Come along, these are always a fun event. As with last week, the event was played in a stroke format. 19 players set out on what was a wet day.... Runner up in the daily comp was Ron Jackson and John Magennis both with net 68. Our winner today was Maurice Kelly (19) with net 65. To the midweek Champs, winner of the putting comp was Fergus Nevin with 53 putts. There was a tie for the winner with Al Mcinnes and Kevin Glassenbury both scoring.137 net. They decided on a play off on the 2nd hole, with Lucky Al emerging the Victor. For perhaps the first time ever in the long history of this event, our finalists are Andrew Davies and Grant Davies! According to Andrew, the two may have never even met in a preliminary round during the event’s long history (well in excess of 30 years)... The match promises to be a cracker, with the extra layer of intrigue following Grant’s switching from Southpaw to right hander. Who will win? Come along on SUNDAY @ 1pm to find out (updated from our earlier post) Spectators encouraged, along with social distancing, masks etc!

09.01.2022 It’s always great to receive an email from our man Barry Palmer on a Tuesday. If I can’t be out there, it’s great to be able to live vicariously from those who are. And there were plenty today, with a field of 20 players for our Stableford event, despite the overcast skies. Two players had 38 points, with Al Mcinnes (14) losing out to our mate from Trentham John Hudson (19) on a countback.... A reminder that all are welcome on Tuesday (and any other day for that matter!) with an 8.30am assembly for a 9.00am start. The comp is usually finished by 12.30 and a friendlier bunch you will never meet.
