25.01.2022 Woombye School of Arts AGM is on Tuesday August 28th in the Lower Hall at 4:30pm. All those interested are invited to attend.
24.01.2022 The Woombye School of Arts Hall is seeking 4 new members to join the committee to replace those who’ve left through illness over the past 18 months.... Are you a Woombye local? Do you value the hall? Recently retired with nothing to do? The friendly team would love to welcome you. Duties are not onerous, just one meeting on the last Tuesday of every month at 4:30pm in the Lower Hall. The committee regards itself as custodians of the hall for future generations and is determined to maintain the old building to the best of its ability. About 1000 people a week attend classes or events at the hall, providing customers for our local businesses. Contact the Secretary on 0417 613 475 if you are interested.
24.01.2022 Through a grant from the Gambling Fund, Bill and Brian are hard at work replacing the library deck ceiling, new fiddly bits on the Hill St verandah posts and new railings. Expect them to be about for another week or so.

24.01.2022 The Coalition of Community Boards held a forum in the Lower Hall on Thursday for Chairpersons and Secretaries of not for profit groups. It was very well attended and the participants enjoyed a free morning tea and lunch provided by the Woombye Bakery, as well as learned important information on the duties of committee executive positions. Contact Mark on 0414 519 047 or [email protected]
23.01.2022 Cheeky Little Monkeys set up in the main hall for Friday morning.
22.01.2022 Grounded, the new cafe in Woombye is owned and run by local Paul Dolan and is currently open Wednesday to Sunday with other days soon. If you are a library member or volunteer, or attend a class at the hall, you are eligible for a two for one tea/coffee deal. Just tell them at the counter. Photo shows Paul and the new signage. 21.01.2022 The Lower hall kitchen has a new oven and hot plates!
21.01.2022 Ros Keating has been teaching dancing for 30 years. Her New Vogue, Old Time and Latin classes are taught in a sequence of 16 bars which are repeated until the music stops. Much easier to learn! Its been said of Ros that she has the patience of a saint and can teach anyone to dance. If you want to stave off dementia, try dancing. Its a good physical workout, your brain has to remember the steps and you are socially active, especially as Ros covers about 23 dances per night. ...Ros class is held in the Main hall on Tuesday nights from 6:30-8:30 with supper provided. Singles and beginners are welcome and at $5 per class whats stopping you? Call Ros on 0407 809 127 to begin your dancing experience. Pictured are Ros and Ron, Bernie and Bev and Grame & Jeanette.
20.01.2022 The painter has been! The railings and the library deck ceiling have been done by Gordon Lake and new lights in the ceiling installed by Milne Power Group. The Hill St deck and bench seat have also received a rejuvenating finish.
19.01.2022 This is the Alpha Waltz, one of the many dances taught by Ros.
19.01.2022 The Hall Committee has recently installed a noise reduction door between the two halls and the Tai Chi group reported a noticeable difference. Also new front doors from the Blackall St verandah entrance have been installed as the previous ones posed a security risk.

17.01.2022 Woombye Heritage Festival held a fundraiser in the hall recently and a good time was had by all. The decorations look great.
16.01.2022 The Hall committee recently hired Cooper Small to replace the posts holding up the library deck. They had corroded and were a safety risk. The lower hall refrigerator was also recently replaced. The committee is dedicated to maintaining the hall for the local community so the $8000 costs were derived from hall hire fees.
15.01.2022 Check out the pictures of old Woombye when you are next in either of the halls. The Hall committee paid for many of the archived pictures to be enlarged and printed for the 150th Woombye celebrations. Their new home is the halls.
15.01.2022 Recently Kyanna held a party at the lower hall and here's what she had to say: We had such an amazing day and are so thankful we were able to book the hall. It all worked out perfectly and we will certainly be having more parties here in the future. Thank you for making it a stress free experience for us all. Here are a couple of photos of the set up. It was so easy to hang things with the hooks already there.
15.01.2022 Andrew Hansen of Class Dance is a specialist Sequence Dance teacher and has been teaching this form of dancing for approximately 15 years. He teaches as per script. By attending a Class Dance lesson every one is assured that they are learning the dance correctly. His classes are a mixture of OLD TIME - Gypsy t...ap, Evening 3 step etc, LATIN - Cha Cha Cha, Jive, Rumba etc, BALLROOM - Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep and NEW VOGUE - Swing Waltz, Barclay Blues and many more. Classes are on Thursday mornings at Woombye School of Arts Hall, $10 pp. Stay as long as you like. 9:30 am to 10.30 pm. Beginner / Intermediate. 11:00am to 1:15 pm Intermediate - advanced. 13.01.2022 HALL CLOSURE Following the Government's directive, the halls will be closed from noon today. No classes or dances will be held until further notice.
13.01.2022 Users of the Main Hall may notice the stage is bare. After an accident with the curtains, the committee had to remove them and order new tracks. It was a good opportunity to dryclean the curtains. All should be returned to normal after Easter.
13.01.2022 The hall provides a blank canvas for imaginative decoration.
10.01.2022 Curtains are now dry cleaned and replaced on the new metal track. Many thanks to Bill, Lloyd and Terri.
08.01.2022 Karen our booking officer is leaving! The committee farewelled her with flowers at the last meeting and wish her well in her future endeavours. Pictured from left to right are Bill and Helen, the new booking team, with Karen in the middle, Julie, the secretary and Tom the treasurer. All contact details remain the same.

08.01.2022 The Hall welcomes a new class to our permanent hirers.
07.01.2022 Hi Everyone, The everchanging situation with COVID - 19 has created such uncertainty about public events, self-isolation, social distancing, and the availablitity of Iced Vo-Vos, that I have decided to cancel the book launch on Sun April 5. At this stage I am still coming up to the Sunshine Coast from Apr 3 - Apr 13, so if you would like to buy a copy of my book, that can be arranged, just message me and we can sort out a sterile exchange of goods and money. Cheers, Sean... Sean Crawley will be launching his book of short stories, Dead People Don't Make Jam, at the Lower Hall on Sunday April 5th from 2:00 - 4:00pm. Light Refreshments available.
07.01.2022 Winnie's cafe has just changed owners: the cafe has become 'Grounded'. New owner, Paul, has made a generous offer to all those who use our hall, offering a 'two for one' deal of coffee/tea/chai. You just need to mention that you attend a class at the hall to claim the offer. It's a lovely gesture to the community from someone who has newly arrived in Woombye. Picture of new signage to follow.
07.01.2022 The Main Hall in wedding mode. Thanks to the Booking Officer for the pictures.
07.01.2022 Our halls can be changed for lots of events - a children's playground, an amateur radio show or a wedding.
06.01.2022 Taoist Tai Chi holds classes in the hall on Wednesday and Saturday. You may enrol for a beginner class lasting 4 months for approximately $190 but there are concessions available. The 108 moves are taught over the 16 weeks and once learned, take between 15 to 20 minutes to perform. Once youve done the beginner course, a continuation is available. The Taoist Tai Chi internal arts of health are specifically designed to improve holistic health. The significant degree of turni...ng and stretching in each of the movements, combined with the adaptability of the form to suit individual needs, are just some of the factors that contribute to its focus on restoring, improving and maintaining health. The health benefits include: improved circulation; improved balance and posture; increased strength and flexibility; and reduced stress. 06.01.2022 The Hall held its AGM on Tuesday Aug 29th and all office bearers were reelected unopposed. President Kerry Brown thanked all the team for a wonderfully successful year. The hall brings in approximately 1000 people a week into the town. When their classes are finished, they have a coffee, go to the bank or the library, do some shopping. The treasurer, Tom Hogan, said the committee are the custodians of the hall for future generations and as such have the responsibility to kee...p it well maintained. Thus a lot of money was spent on repairs and refurbishment this year. The majority of funds came from the Gambling Fund but The Nambour RSL, Palmwoods Heritage Bank and the hall's own funds also contributed. There are 17 regular user groups of the hall with many casual hirers for one off events as well. It is well used and appreciated. Woombye is fortunate to have such an establishment. See more
