25.01.2022 Monday saw the 11th Annual General Meeting of Woombye & Districts Community Enterprises Ltd (WDCE), the operators of Woombye Community Bank, being held at the Woombye School of Arts Directors announced a reduced profit over the previous year and did not declare a dividend, taking a cautious view as to the impact on the economy by the Covid-19 circumstances. Encouragingly though directors advised there is significant business in the pipeline at present and that steps had been... initiated to reduce costs given the significant decline in over-the-counter cash transactions since Covid, something that is being experienced by many. We have continued our policy of supporting community organisations and events. Beneficiaries in the financial year included Woombye State School, Sunshine Valley Men’s Shed, Woombye Community Library, Woombye Bowls Club, Kiel Mountain Rural Fire Brigade and other community groups, organisations, and sporting groups. The total of funds given back into the community has now exceeded $175,000 since the bank commenced business.
