15.01.2022 The Marine Safety Forum recently published a safety alert regarding an incident on an Emergency Response and Rescue vessel which is worth having a look at.. The crewman had his finger crushed when attaching the lifting ring on the wire to the Daughter craft Hook. The root cause being the lifting ring was not suited to task. These are the crew responsible for emergency response and in this instance the equipment being used was,to put it simply, dangerous. 10.01.2022 Small boat deployment near miss incident IMCA If you have a look at this report the root cause not uncommon.Manual release wires for FRC,s do occasionally get caught which activates the emergency lowering, this is a controlled decent and I done it during drills on a few occasions.Being familiar with the equipment and conducting training is the way to resolve this.Another issue is when there is no weight on the wire and it hooks up on part of the superstructure of the vessel, this results in the wire over spooling and eventually jamming in the reel which takes time to repair. 04.01.2022 This incident occurred in Australian waters a little while back.Perfect conditions, poor communications. There is always room for training ,wherever you may be. https://workboatsafety.com/not-stores-transfer/

04.01.2022 Workboatsafety was recently given the opportunity to participate in Emergency training with Risk Response + Rescue based in Woolongong. It is well worth having a look at their site www.riskresponse.com.au/training . This crew is both passionate about what they do and highly experienced. The 2 courses Workboatsafety participated in(Swift water rescue and Cert 2 Medical responder) pushed all the participants with multiple scenarios that were both realistic and well supported by the RR+R crew. This is not an RTO where you pay the money, are given the minimum training to meet requirements and then get handed the ticket.
