25.01.2022 Currently exhibiting MYRRHINE FABRICIUS Painting / Collage... "Inspired by everyday life, my collages reflect both nature and the built environment. I initially use pastels, acrylic paint and modelling compound on paper to document colours and shapes from memories and photographs. The process is free and abstract, with a chaotic outcome. I later cut up these works and collage them. I enjoy the process of finding an order from the chaos. Similarly to the layers of a city and the architecture that makes them up, I assemble the pieces to create one cohesive whole. The use of paper allows the final works to appear differently throughout the day. The amount of light falling on them affects the overall composition. This phenomenon occurs in buildings everyday. The life of buildings is something we often take for granted. Buildings are busy in ways that do not occur to us: heating, protecting, storing, organising, rejecting, decaying. I like to capture these fluctuations that occur. This body of work is part of an ongoing series exploring this concept of the life of architecture."
