12.01.2022 In April 2020 we told you that the end of July was our decision date for the future of the 2020 WEMBO World Solo 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships. I am sure that it will come as no surprise to many of you that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, WEMBO have taken the decision to defer the 2020 WEMBO World Solo 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships to 2021. They will be held on 6/7 November 2021 in Armidale, NSW, Australia; the same place as 2020 would have been held. The atta...ched announcement explains our reasons and also gives details on transferring or refunding entries. You can also view and download a PDF of the announcement in the news section of the WEMBO website: https://www.wembo.com.au/news/latest-news/ WEMBO has always been about providing as fair and equal a competition environment as possible. While it is obvious that we cannot have a world championships in Australia if the Australian borders are closed to international visitors, we also will not hold it if the riders cannot compete on an equal basis. Having international riders undertake a mandatory quarantine period on arrival would place them at an unfair disadvantage compared to local riders. At this stage, the advice is that Australia’s borders will still be closed to international visitors in November 2020. After Armidale, Australia in 2021, the WEMBO World Solo 24 Hour Mountain Bike Championships will return to the location of our first event - the magnificent trails, mountains and seaside of Finale Ligure, Italy for 2022. The WEMBO website home-page will be amended over the weekend to reflect the new locations and dates. Stay safe, and please contact me or NEMTB if you have any questions. Russ

10.01.2022 Get ready for a very WEMBO 2020 ! Sorry to be a bit late with these announcements and the happy new year message, but we have been a bit busy in Australia with the fires I am sure you have all heard about. Importantly for 2020, there has been no impact of the fires on our world championships course in Armidale, so everything is on-track for this year’s world championships after a great Asia/Pacific Continental Champs in Armidale, Australia last year. Link for the 2020 w...orld champs on 7/8 November is: https://www.ridenewengland.com.au/ Thanks to our event hosts from 2019, especially Mario Roma and his team who held a great world championships and the first WEMBO event in Brasil. The website will be updated soon, but for now, here are the upcoming events. *** Please note we have moved 2022 WEMBO World Championships to Finale Ligure *** who have also lined up for the WEMBO European Continental Champs in 2021. Due to some local changes in Slovakia, the support for that event was not as strong as it originally was to deliver a WEMBO standard event for you. WEMBO Continental Championships for 2020. We are already set up for Europe in Jihlava, Czech Republic on 27/28 June, but there will also be special children’s race that will take place on 23 June, 4 days before the main race. It will be for children in school grades 6 to 9, but don't worry, its not for 24 hours ;-) https://www.jihlavska24mtb.cz We can now announce our FIRST Americas (that is North and South combined) WEMBO Continental Championships for 11/12 July in Bend, Oregon. https://www.mudslingerevents.com/Oregon-24 Asia/Pacific WEMBO Continental Champs are planned be in Rotorua, New Zealand on 26/27 September. Full details still to be finalised. If you want to brush up on the eligibility rules for a WEMBO Continental Championships, see the WEMBO website qualifying section at: http://www.wembo.com.au/general/race-information/qualifying And, after all those continental events, see you back in Armidale for WEMBO World Championships 2020 on 7/8 November ! #wembo #oregon24 #wemboamericas2020 Russ, Frazer & Riccardo

09.01.2022 Well, its that time of year when families get together to celebrate - but we have not been able to get our WEMBO Family together in 2020. We will just have to look forward to double-celebrations all round in 2021. As all our countries deal with COVID in their own ways and depending on their own circumstances, stay safe and enjoy your mountain biking until we can all be together again. Frazer, Riccardo, Russ & the WEMBO gang !

07.01.2022 Well, we did a "Magnificent 7" for Jason English when he broke the record for the number of World Solo 24 titles, so figured we should go one better with a Magnificent 8 for the world champion pit crew Jennii ;-)

07.01.2022 2020 WEMBO Events and COVID-19. At this stage there are no changes to the dates/locations for the 2020 WEMBO World Solo Championships, European Continental Championships or Americas Continental Championships published on the WEMBO website: https://www.wembo.com.au/... Many of our WEMBO family of riders are affected by the measures in place to deal with this pandemic, and these measures are changing daily around the world. Some of you may have seen the announcement by the Australian Prime Minister earlier today that Australia is closing its borders to international (non-Australian citizens and residents) visitors. The media release is here: https://www.pm.gov.au/media/border-restrictions There have been indications in other interviews that this may last up to 6 months, so at this stage we are monitoring the travel situation for the 2020 world championships in Armidale, Australia on 7-8 November. A 6 month travel restriction for riders coming to Australia would conclude some 7 weeks before the world championships date. The European (26-28 June) and Americas (11-12 July) WEMBO Continental Championships are happening sooner and the respective organisers of those two events are monitoring their own national measures to address COVID-19, including travel restrictions, and keeping WEMBO informed. Both organisers have possible alternate dates for these events later in the year; dates which are well clear of the world championships. But these alternate dates have not been activated. As soon as a decision is made, we will inform you on this page. For medical and travel advice, you should please refer to the official websites for your own country. Stay safe. Russ Baker for WEMBO
