25.01.2022 Congratulations NightQuarter for a phenomenal opening week! We were lucky to get a little sneak peak back in June as part of this year's reimagined WED Festival with the Sunshine Coast Council Living Smart Queensland Repair Lab coming live from the NightQuarter

25.01.2022 The Sunshine Coast Environment Council, known as SCEC, is the peak environmental advocacy not for profit group, protecting the beautiful Sunshine Coast for 40 years. SCEC advocates for better environmental policy, supports local groups on campaigns to protect natural landscapes and marine environments, and encourages action on climate change through education and community engagement. Each year, SCEC celebrates World Environment Day by hosting WED Festival in early Jun...e. WED Fest has been celebrated all over the coast, from the first time at Fairhill native nursery, many years by the Maroochy River at Cotton tree, Eumundi Markets and the University of the Sunshine Coast and attracts over 8000 people. The festival has grown into the region’s biggest environmental event and holds the title of the longest running event of its kind in SEQ, maybe even the world. The 2012 Festival took out one of five categories in the United Nations Environment Program WED challenge, giving WED Fest international recognition. The 2017 event took out Queensland State Champion at for the Best Charity or Cause Related Event of the Year at the Australian Event Awards and we couldn't be more proud! This year, SCEC is excited to host WED Fest online, with a range of engaging activities, international speakers, live music and plenty of tips to take action to protect our unique biodiversity here on the coast. The event is proudly supported by Sunshine Coast Council Grants program, Queensland Water and Landcarers and Good Harvest Organic Farm.

People can audit their homes/buildings to help them better understand their carbon footprint, and ...where they can reduce based on their appliances and usage. They can also analyse and compare their appliances with other users. The App provides tips and recommendations for actions from no-cost, behaviour changes to appliance upgrades. People can manage their action plans online through the platform. Sign up today for only $15/year and reduce your carbon emissions! #ClimateClever #ClimateAction #LowerMyFootprint

24.01.2022 We can't take care of the environment without first looking at our carbon emissions. Climate change is and will continue to have a devastating effect on our planet. The future MUST include renewable technologies! Check out some of the fantastic suppliers here on the coast at the Renewables Expo hosted by Climate Action Now - Sunshine Coast Click the link

18.01.2022 It's National Recycling Week This year's theme is 'Recovery - A future beyond the bin'. You are invited to value your resources, giving them a second life by reducing virgin resource use, reusing and recycling. Reducing our waste not only keeps valuable materials out of landfill it also benefits the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and our need for new materials. 17.01.2022 Please help us protect the Maroochy River by signing the petition in the comment below. The Maroochy River floodplain within the dynamic Maroochy River catchment contains the diverse ecosystems of the majestic Maroochy River, creeks, estuaries, wetlands and saltmarsh. It provides habitat for a range of animals including migratory birds and threatened species. The Sunshine Coast Environment Council is working with local groups to protect the floodplain from an intensive urban development that will have a detrimental effect on the local environment and livability of Coolum. #protectthefloodplain #protectthemaroochy

16.01.2022 Hi everyone, please stay tuned for today's livestream we will be going live in the next few minutes. https://golive.events/world-environment-day-festival-2020/

16.01.2022 Thank you, Eucalypt Roses, for creating our beautiful native flower installation for the WED Fest set design. The flowers and foliage featured in the piece did not require intensive farming practices that would be needed for commercially grown cut flowers. No irrigation, fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides or trucking miles used. The artwork dries beautifully and can last for months. No plastic is used making the artwork perfect to place in the garden. It will continue to compost naturally and nourish the soil with nutrients and indigenous plants seeds. - Rose Feely

See you all again next year for WED Fest!!

01.01.2022 We are proud to be a plastic-free festival! This year, as we celebrated digitally we only produced 1 small bag of waste, with 90% of it being recycled Sadly only 16% of plastic packaging is recycled in Australia. Where does the rest end up? In our rivers, oceans, roadsides and tips. Anywhere and everywhere. This is not good enough! We all need to take a stand against single-use plastics. Will you take the challenge this July?
