21.01.2022 Tune in to ABC News at 8.30 tonight to listen to Co-Founder Clary Akon discuss our guerilla art project Wowser Nation! ----------------------------------------- Wowser Nation was founded in 2016 by sculptor Clary Akon and psychologist and writer Francis Merson, who both grew up in Sydney back when it was, you know, fun.... In 2017 we exhibited a range of their designs and street art at Australian Galleries. In 2019 we were joined by filmmaker Christie Aucamp, who became radicalised after her Free Dance Party on the streets of Sydney were repeatedly shut down. Wowser Nation is a collective which explores the Australian nanny state through subversive street art. We create satirical signs that encourage people to question the increasingly strict rules we are asked to follow. Our work embodies the disquieting suspicion that regulation aimed to improve our lives could be making them worse.

Needless to say, it was a fairly subdued affair. The exhibition continues for another 3 weeks for those of you who may still be interested in viewing the works without a crowd. 06.01.2022 Is this for real ... ?? A man has been saddled with a good behaviour bond for illegally talking on his mobile phone - while riding a horse. The 30-year-old wa...s trotting along a country road near Tambaroora in the NSW Central West on October 19 at about 10km/h. Local police spotted him holding a phone up to his right ear about 11am and despite traffic being 'light', decided to stop him. He appeared in Mudgee Local Court recently where the magistrate could barely contain his laughter long enough to pass sentence. Magistrate David Day agreed the crime was 'trivial in the extreme' and joked that the horse was not fitted with a hands free kit. 'I've had someone charged with being drunk on a horse before - but just one,' he said. 'Under the road rules a horse is a vehicle... and he didn't have a hands-free device fitted to the horse.' The defendant's lawyer Tim Cain said his client was pleading guilty 'because he concedes that the horse was in motion'. Magistrate Day noted the charge was especially minor in a rural area where horses were often used for transport. The rider was given a three-month conditional release order without conviction and left to get back in the saddle.
