25.01.2022 New incomings to the shelter a Brushtail possum joey and tawny frogmouth chick. Both doing really well.

22.01.2022 Incoming today a baby magpie. The Tree was cut down (unsure of reason). The nest is made with so much of everyday rubbish that the magpie parents have found to make the nest like wire, phone charger, keys, string, plastic strapping, Rope, Electrical wire etc. I have seen so many accidents with babies getting caught in nests (not this baby) from rubbish that their parents find when building their nests.

20.01.2022 Last night's rescue we attended to a brushtail possum trapped into a coonara heater. What we thought was an easy rescue the brushy had other ideas and decided to run back up the flue. We managed to get him out safely and released outside into a nearby tree where he belongs! The flue has been covered up outside so he won't be able to get back in.

An examination and x-ray showed a broken wing and fragments of a bullet were found at the site. It is believed the eagle was deliberately shot. The eagle had to be euthanised due to the extent of its injuries. The Conservation Regulator is appealing for anyone with information to make a confidential report to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
