22.01.2022 Today we join in a global celebration of one of the world’s greatest engineering inventions. World #Helicopter Day aims to raise awareness of the contribution t...hat helicopters make to our society and celebrate the diverse range of people that design, fly and support them. The day is held on the 3rd Sunday of August each year and 2020 will be the sixth year of the event. Throughout the world every day there are people relying on helicopters for rescues, emergency medical response, urgent inter hospital transfers, disaster relief, general transport, firefighting, powerline maintenance, tourism, agriculture and many more diverse and vital roles. Our Service operates four (4) AgustaWestland AW139 aircraft, recognised as the aircraft of choice for aeromedical services around the world. On this World Helicopter Day, we encourage you to find out more about our aircraft and operations at the following link http://www.rescuehelicopter.com.au/About/Operations #worldhelicopterday

16.01.2022 Westpac Rescue Helicopter do need your vote to win $3000 towards keeping the Helicopter helping sick and injured.

16.01.2022 Let’s not meet on the road...or anywhere these school holidays. Wherever you are and whatever you do, please stay safe! #drivesafe #playsafe #holidaysafe #staysafe

12.01.2022 We appreciate The Greater Bank supporting local groups and we from Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service, Gunnedah would love you to vote for us to enable us to receive a portion of their monthly contribution.

12.01.2022 We’d like to wish everyone a happy and safe #Easter break, at the same time, reinforce the importance of #stayinghome unless you need to attend work, exercise o...r seek medical care. Staying home will help save lives but whatever you are doing, PLEASE do it safely. In recent weeks we’ve attended a number of incidents around homes and properties, such as roof falls, burns, as well as falls from horses and motorbikes. If you are required to undertake #essentialtravel the roads in our local area are very familiar to us but this familiarity can often lead to complacency, so please #drivesafely and be mindful of other road users if you have to be on the road this weekend and remember that #DoubleDemerits are in force. Across the weekend however, you can rest assured knowing our Westpac #RescueHelicopter crews will be on standby 24-7, as normal, to provide prompt aeromedical assistance to those most in need, wherever that may be. Happy Easter everyone! #StayHome #StaySafe #HereWithYou

11.01.2022 We’re always there to help, so our crews know the importance of looking out for each other, ensuring that one another is ‘OK’! If you’ve noticed a change and a...re feeling someone you know or care about isn’t behaving normally, no matter how small, trust your gut instinct and act on it and ask R U OK? Perhaps they seem out of sorts? More agitated or withdrawn? Or they’re just not themselves. By starting a conversation and commenting on the changes you’ve noticed, you could help that family member, friend or workmate open up. If they say they are not OK, start a conversation and show them they’re supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are OK, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask. So today, ask someone in your ‘crew’ if they are OK! A conversation could change a life. For resources and support to start a conversation, visit https://www.ruok.org.au/ #RUOK #StartAConversation #Ask #Listen #EncourageAction #CheckIn

01.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE As with all organisations across Australia, the COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging for the Service. Due to increased public concern, to protect the health of stakeholders at all levels and in response to the Prime Minister and COAG’s direction with regard to organised mass gatherings and social distancing, the Gunnedah Volunteer Support Group wish to advise that there will be no Support Group meetings within the next two months. This is a position that... will be reviewed every 2 weeks. Whilst it is disappointing to lose this face to face interaction with our peers in our support of the Rescue Helicopter, the safety and well-being of everyone is paramount and the Service has decided this is the best course of action. The Service is very conscious of the huge efforts undertaken by our Group however the safety of all members of the Rescue Helicopter family and the wider community takes priority. Please stay safe and observe all the recommended health initiatives being promoted to combat this virus so as to ensure the wellbeing of your family and loved ones. See more
