25.01.2022 Clearly documented business processes provide workers with the information they need to undertake their role. Tasks that are undertaken regularly will be done the same way every time - reducing variation and producing a consistent predictable product or outcome. Workers will have confidence when managing unusual or emergency situations if they have written instructions to guide them.... For businesses with a casual workforce this type of documentation is essential as it supports rapid induction to role and enables the worker to manage tasks without the need for close supervision - i.e. they are able to hit the ground running. Workers that are supported by documented processes are able to work more autonomously and with confidence that they are following the correct course of action. To the business this can deliver a workforce that is satisfied, accountable and engaged. Does your business need the power of Writing it Right? 11.01.2022 Question: If you haven’t documented your business processes how will you know if you are delivering a quality product? Answer: You won’t! Without reliable instructions on how to complete processes, your workers will do them differently every time. This will result in an inconsistent approach and end product this is bad for business. Over time poor practices will creep in and workers will cut corners this approach will become the norm and will be passed on to new employees.... 03.01.2022 Over the last couple of weeks I have detailed a number of reasons why businesses must document their processes. The focus has been on achieving process / product consistency, managing staff training, engagement and performance and the development of quality and improvement processes. Another key reason to document business processes is to preserve company knowledge. This is particularly important for specialised processes known only to a few personnel. If you don’t have a rec...ord of these processes what will you do if these people leave suddenly and a newcomer has to take their place? Distilling years of company knowledge into easy to follow documents and instructions can appear onerous. I specialise in making sense of complex processes, expressing them in a form that is logical and easy to follow. I will work with you and your staff to develop resources that work for your company. Call or message to find out what I can offer.
