15.01.2022 Pull down time getting ready for new better concrete feed bunk. A bit sad to see the prototype I did two years ago like this but excited to prepare for a real winter finishing program with our extensive grass pastures.#bassstraitbeef #hayfeed #winterfeed #cattlefinish #grassfed #nograin #neverever @ Wuk Wuk Farmer

14.01.2022 In the USA they are posting these messages below to encourage people to purchase beef to support their farmers as the prices have tanked because WAIT FOR IT. The staff are not turning up to the packing companies in fear of COVID19. Not because they have it. And that is fair for those who are concerned but it’s not attributable to the virus itself spreading to those packing houses. In Australia we can’t do what is in the message so don’t ask your local butcher in Australia to ...unless he/she has access to an abattoir. You can get your own stock cut up though for personal use on farm. In my comment below you will see a USA meat packer explain the meat packing in USA scenario for why USA is struggling to supply their own country. Australian beef prices have risen another .20c a kg for farmers today and I’m guessing this is to fill the USA gap now and in coming months. For southern Australia the biggest export market is the USA. It has been for a while. Most cattle are grass finished in VIC and most cattle are grain finished in the USA. So when the consumer demands grass fed cattle they come to us. That’s not going to change now I’d say. So please don’t get worried about what other countries are demanding of us in Australia and worry more that we will have enough for our own domestic markets. Just sayin See more

14.01.2022 Tonnes and tones of poultry manure and recycled gypsum ready to be spread and disced in to improve a very clay hardened paddock. #improving #soils for long term #perennial #pastures

12.01.2022 Let’s be clear in the amount of meat sent to China now and five years ago. Do we need to depend on this market? You be the judge with the information we have put together. It’s clear to us as farmers that we need to look at facts rather than some political point being promoted through main stream media. In 2015 we exported around 39,000 tonnes to China, a relatively small amount. In 2019 around 300,000 tonne, 24%. The price of beef was the highest it has been in 2016/17 and again now in 2020 it remains very high. Even through a nation drought we have had world markets demand our product due to its quality. The image with this post shows the 2019 breakout of beef around the world from Australia. In brief we are very diverse, and as a nation a threat of not taking beef from Australia by China isn’t a big issue. Just sayin.

08.01.2022 Fescue and cocksfoot grasses coming up on our hill paddock. Nice to see green across the hills again as many farmers replant #drought #recovery #loveeastgippsland #bassstraitbeef

05.01.2022 Amazing transformation after poultry manure, recycled gypsum, lime being disced in then power harrowed flat ready for seeding and another 20 years of #perennial #pasture Its about a five month process but gives years of benefit to the #soil and #biodynamics

04.01.2022 Better late than never. Winter feed bunk going in #adapted for #hay or #grasspellets #eastgippsland #bassstraitbeef when grass is scarce

03.01.2022 Needing something to do whilst indoors enjoying the heater? Why not try diamond painting? If you like paint by numbers, jigsaws, cross-stitch then you may just be excited about this craft. As farmers we need to look at alternative incomes during these times of drought, fires and COVID-19. If you’d like to support the farm again then consider purchasing through www.treasurestudiosart.com By the way, we are still all accredited and audited grass only and selling our beef through Bass Strait Beef brand available at best quality restaurants. Keep following us for more things happening in 2020

02.01.2022 A LITTLE ingenuity by the lesser sized #lambs in the machinery yard today when they were given a new bale to attack at #wukwuk #loveeastgippsland #australia
