08.01.2022 We are the direct descendants of the Wurundjeri men and women who lived in the region for many thousands of years. One of the key aspirations of Wurundjeri Woi-Wurrung Council is to provide a holistic approach to working on our traditional Country. We have an established Natural Resource Management (NRM) team, referred to as the Narrap Rangers, to support this aspiration. Wurundjeri Country includes a diverse range of landscapes, both urban and rural, the inland grasslands of... the volcanic plains, the ranges and forests that form the Port Phillip catchment, wetlands and waterways, and finally, the Sea Country of the bay. As Wurundjeri people and Traditional Owners of our Country, we have a particular cultural perspective on natural resource management. These interests are enshrined in cultural rights and responsibilities that have been passed on over the millennia by our ancestors. We have strong spiritual ties to the Country of our ancestors. Oral information has passed down relating to customs and traditions (language, dance, ceremony, clothing, bush food collection). Knowledge of Country is taught to our children. We continue to access and care for cultural places across our Country. Country is central to our sense of belonging; the natural world is a cultural world. We have a special connection to our Country and the health of waterways and the land remains central to our cultural aspirations and the health and wellbeing of our people. Vision To have Wurundjeri and other Aboriginal people participating in real jobs and real development through a successful on country business To promote the value, protection and rehabilitation of our country Encourage the adoption of best management practices and sustainable land uses To assist in the preservation of water quality and ecosystem health on country To create productive and biodiverse landscapes capable of supporting future generations To educate and raise awareness through community Natural Resources Indigenous fire management Restoration and regeneration of landscapes Establishment of biodiversity corridors Fencing (Rabbit, Deer & Farm) Managing the impact of feral animals and pest plants Environmental weed control Fauna and Flora Monitoring Fire Mitigation Erosion Control Fire and Flood Rehabilitation Pest Animal Control and Monitoring Fire Track Slashing & Clearing Fire Break Slashing Track Maintenance General Mowing & Slashing

03.01.2022 Today Chris, Curt, Mark and David were down at Five Mile Creek. The boys were doing some spraying, brush cutting and rubbish pickup along the creek. They managed to fill three bags!! The creek is looking a lot cleaner but still a lot of work to do!
