23.01.2022 Today a handful of our members along with members from Gerogery Rural Fire Brigade, NSW SES Culcairn Unit, NSW SES Holbrook Unit, Fire and Rescue NSW Station 272 Culcairn and NSW Ambulance participated in a joint training exercise. Throughout the day we had the opportunity to gain a better understanding of what each service does and how we can better work together at incidents with a particular focus on MVA response. A big thank you to Culcairn SES for hosting the day and In...spector Julieann Exton and Mitch Thomas from NSW Ambulance for organising and facilitating the days activities also to Bruce for being our victim. It was a great experience.

19.01.2022 Today Captain - Shai Feuerherdt was honoured to be nominated as the Greater Hume Citizen of the year. With a strong field of nominees unfortunately he did not come away with the win. That honour went to the very deserving Mr Murray Jones from Holbrook. Shai was surprised to be nominated and appreciative of the effort someone went to to recognise his efforts.
18.01.2022 It is National Volunteers week and as such we wanted to take this opportunity to thank our members who have time and time again shown that they have big hearts and are willing to step up when our community needs it most. We have members who are farmers, self-employed, retirees, students, parents, grandparents, and members who have fulltime/part-time jobs. They all do what they can when they can and for that we are truly grateful. We are thankful for our members who:... * Respond when paged or the siren sounds * Help around the station, * Cook the BBQ, * Help with finances, * Fundraise, * Assist with maintenance, * Clean the trucks, * Mow the lawns * Train and support our Junior Members For the things listed above and much more we appreciate your time, commitment, and generosity. Walla Walla is a great community and there are many others who volunteer within our community who have helped to make it what it is today. Thank you to all the Walla Walla Volunteers past and present.

Know your risk 2. Plan now for what you will do 3. Get your home ready 4. Be aware and know where to find emergency information 5. Look out for each other www.emergency.nsw.gov.au/getready #getreadynsw #getreadyforsummer #getready

06.01.2022 Earlier this afternoon WWRFS Members were paged to respond to a car fire. The fire was reported as being on the Walla - Walbundrie Rd. Whilst our members could see the smoke the fire was not where it was reported. Eventually it was located on the Back Rand - Walbundrie Rd. Unfortunately the vehicle was destroyed in the fire. Luckily conditions were on our side and whilst the fire had spread into the grass it did not go far. What this highlights is the importance of knowing ...where you are and being able to give emergency services (Triple Zero) an accurate location. If you don’t already have it we urge you to download the Emergency Plus app. This app gives you an accurate location and allows you to provide Emergency Services with three words that they can use to pinpoint your location. Which will ensure that the nearest emergency service is dispatched to your location. The Emergency Plus App is free from the App Store please download it an use it. Every minute saved in reaching a fire or other emergency is valuable. https://emergencyapp.triplezero.gov.au/
06.01.2022 Every brigade needs a volunteer like Dieter Fenz. Even though he’s a smidge over 25 nothing slows him down. He’s always willing to jump on a truck, lend a hand or go on deployment and he makes sure our Fire Danger Rating board is kept up to date. FDR: SEVERE 28/11/2020 TOTAL FIRE BAN DECLARED
