08.01.2022 Wow this is awesome - thank you so much Australian Campdraft Association for supporting our Young Ambassador Quest

06.01.2022 Classic Ladies Foundation Youth Ambassador Quest - Sophie Heffernan 1. What made you decide to join in the Youth Ambassador Quest for 2020? I have always loved ...the sport of campdrafting and the close-knit community which surrounded it. I saw the CLF were advertising to young ambassadors for 2020 and after seeing the devastating effects of drought first hand and noticing that Rural Aid was a chosen charity for 2020 I was eager to jump on board. I hoped that I could meet and get to know some like-minded people and have a platform to raise awareness for charities close to my heart. After suffering a life-threatening illness in 2017 I have had opportunities to speak to and mentor young girls about my experience about taking opportunities that come to you even if they might be daunting sometimes and about resilience. I figured that it was an opportunity that I was willing to work hard to be involved in and I did just that. 2. What was your favourite part of your experience with the CLF? To be honest it so hard to pick out a ‘favorite part’. In the lead up to the quest I had an idea of hosting a charity ball where all proceeds were donated to Rural Aid, this idea snowballed and so many local businesses jumped on board in donating services and products as raffle and auction items. With the help and involvement of my local community I was able to host a charity ball for 160 guests and raise a total of $15,000 for Rural Aid. The opportunity to be so closely involved with the CLF is an opportunity that I will never forget, each of the ladies has their own unique story and have work so selflessly to establish such a successful foundation. 3. If you had the opportunity to do the Quest again, would you and what would you do differently? I wouldn’t change a thing; I enjoyed every moment of my involvement in the quest and made some great friendships. 4. What opportunities has the CLF Youth Ambassador Quest brought to you before and after the Quest? First and foremost, my involvement in the quest has given me the confidence to speak up for charities and causes that I believe are important and greatly helped my ability to speak in front of large audiences. I have met so many amazing people in the industry that I would never have gotten the opportunity to if it wasn’t for the quest. 5. How many campdrafts do you attend each year, normally? Given the current circumstances we only got two campdrafts in after The Nutrien Classic. We try to get to as many as possible. 2019 I attended many campdrafts in NSW and Gippsland and hopefully 2021 will allow me to do the same. 6. What would you say to current ACA female members about nominating to represent ACA? If your passionate about the industry and want to get more involved I can’t recommend this opportunity enough, if you are passionate about raising awareness for charities close to your heart I strongly urge you to jump on board. Its hard work but its absolutely worth it. Have a go, what have you got to lose?
