23.01.2022 Enjoyed one of Bruny Island's fabulous walks today. The shorter 2 hour Labillardiere Peninsula walk (the Luggaboine Circuit Walk, about 2 hours) today in perfect weather - mild with periods of sunshine on the snow topped mountains across the D'Entrecasteaux Channel. Beautiful. Flowers, lichens, open coastal heath and wetter mossy walking sections. Back at Echidna you can treat yourselves to a hot spa bath and relax around the wood fire. 20.01.2022 Thanks Lockie for your fabulous photography of our orchids. This one is most likely an Alpine Caladenia (Caladenia lyallii). Despite its name, the Launceston Field Naturalist Club reference notes its range can also reach sea level, in this case, Barnes Bay.

If you were watching the SBS Food Channel at 8am this morning, you would have seen ‘Boys Weekend’ celebrity chef Miguel Maestre making amazing Chocolate Chrysalis in our 'Echidna on Bruny' kitchen, and Gary Mehigan having a snooze in the peace of Echidna’s deck. The ‘boys’ came to Bruny to sample the oysters, cheese, beef, and found themselves in a rural paradise. You can see it on sbsOnDemand, Documentaries, Boys Weekend, Series 1 Episode 6. There are still vacancies at our cool season rates of $170 for a couple or single per night, and $30 per person per night for additional guests, 2 night minimum. For Monday-Thursday nights you can stay a third night for half rate if you contact us direct. Ring me or sms me on 0429 314 432.
