13.01.2022 Salute to the Sun, look at all these awesome benefits, a wonderful way to start your day, try it and feel the benefits.

12.01.2022 Today I had an unusual piece of magic happen, while I was in a consult for my health, the very beautiful Swami Sarasvati, walked straight through the door to me... and began to stroke my hair and offered me her food, and then she left. In her twilight years she has Alzeihmers. To me this moment was a Blessing that brought tears to my eyes. I remember watching her on tellie as a child. It is said that she brought yoga to Australia. I would like to take this moment, this week leading up to International Womens Day to acknowledge the divine feminine spirit within this extraordinary woman. In gratitude. <3 See more

05.01.2022 Great information on why we practice yoga.

05.01.2022 Merry Christmas to all, make your presence a present to your family and friends.

03.01.2022 I wrote this list right after I hung up with my daughter who was extremely overwhelmed because she went to the wrong location for a doctors appointment. She was... literally stress yelling on the phone and now MY heart is racing. Oh, and today is the day before she hops on a plane to head back to college. Between doctors appointments, a COVID test, packing and trying to say goodbye to her friends, she is running out of time. But I don’t think that’s actually why she’s overwhelmed. I think she’s overwhelmed for the same reason you and I are-- the world is totally f*cked up at the moment, or at least it feels that way. Are we going back to school? Is it safe to come out of quarantine? Will I get sick? Is my company going to continue remote work? Will I lose my job? I don’t have the answers to any of these questions. No one does. There are so many unknowns right now. And that's why it is more important than EVER that you focus on the things that YOU can control TODAY. You can control what time you get up. You can control whether you make your bed. You can control whether you move your body. You can control whether you move your mind, by journaling or meditating or praying. And you can control where you direct your focus and attention. I pick ONE project a day that matters to me. Today’s project: try to get through the day with my daughter without tearing my hair out or saying something I regret (I’ve already blown that last one, and apologized ). I know better days are coming but for now, I’m doing the best I can to get through today.

01.01.2022 A little ‘creep’ is good for us, but not too much. As we stretch passively as we do in Yin yoga, we create elongation in the muscle fibre. Once this reaches its... limit, the stretch expands into the surrounding connective tissue structures, which begin to lengthen or ‘creep’. Once we exit our pose, the tissues rebound back. BUT because the tissues have 'creeped' it’s important to exit our poses slowly, so that the tissues can rebound and have time to recover. Time and rest are required for full recovery. A counterpose can be beneficial in assisting recovery. Like anything we can also 'creep' too far.. so this is where our awareness of what is happening in our body is essential.. Too often we 'checkout' of the body in our Yin yoga practice. If we are alert to our inner workings and the effects of our 'creep' giving the body time to rest and recover, this should result in stronger, healthier connective tissue structures. Like everything, Yin yoga is not for everyone. #creep #yogatrainingsmelbourne #leonielockwoodyoga #yinyogatt #yinyogaaustralia #yinyogattmelbourne See more
