22.01.2022 Do you have a timber deck? Here are some simple ways to keep it looking good: Check all timber including handrails and stairs thoroughly for splintering and sand back if needed. Sweep regularly. Accumulation of dirt or leaves can stain the deck surface.... Move any potted plants at least every six months and check the wood underneath. Or place them on top of cement blocks to prevent the planters from trapping dirt or moisture on the decks surface. Clean and seal every year, ideally before the harsh summer months. Seal your deck to protect it against moisture from rain, which will cause the wood to swell. Sealing the deck will also protect it against the sun, which can shrink and dry the wood. By choosing a sealant with a UV sunlight protector you will maintain the deck colour for longer. Avoid painting or staining your deck with a solid stain because these finishes eventually peel and require extra maintenance. Oil-based stains are usually the best as they protect your deck and fade gradually and naturally. Make repairs as soon as possible. Replace any rotted or damaged boards as needed to avoid having to replace the whole deck. Regular maintenance should also include tightening loose boards or railings.

22.01.2022 Cobblestones are the perfect solution for paving around pools, decorative paving and any high traffic areas. Their textured finish gives traction on wet or steep surfaces and their colour variation is incredibly forgiving in terms of marks and staining.

09.01.2022 Here are some Water Wise Tips to survive Perth's harsh Summer months: 1. Use plants with low water requirements. And what better range to choose from than our own beautiful native plants that come in a variety of shapes and colours. 2. Dont over-water your lawn you can train it to use less water by encouraging the roots to grow deeper. You will need to water a little longer but less often, so the water goes deeper which will encourages the roots to go deeper.... 3. During summer months you should set your mower level higher and let your lawn grow longer. By keeping your lawn longer, it shades the soil surface and reduces evaporation loss. 4. If you have a pool or spa, keep it covered when not in use. Covers help to prevent the water from evaporating.

07.01.2022 Spring has been wetter than winter seemed to be, however the weather is improving! Here are 10 gardening tasks to tackle in this spring: Plant your flower and veggie seeds for ready for summer. Plant herbs. Give your plants and lawn some fertiliser, ready for growth to resume.... Prune your plants which flowered in winter and early spring. Renew mulches on garden beds and do some weeding. Check for pests on new growth such as aphids and snails. Snails and slugs can be trapped or deterred and aphids can be squashed or treated. Repot potted plants that are root bound. Deadhead spring annuals and bulbs. Give your plants a good drink of a seaweed liquid. See more
