22.01.2022 #EitherOar Finishing eighth of 14 might not look great in the form guide, but this filly is showing her potential.

21.01.2022 Kembla trainers enjoy day out on Cup day The locals dominated Melbourne Cup day at Kembla Grange and leading trainer Gwenda Markwell provided the headline act w...ith a winning double on home turf on Tuesday. Half of the Cup day card was captured by Kembla-trained horses and Markwell - as is often the case - put her mark on the meeting with victories to Point Hope and Speed and Style. The lightly-raced filly Point Hope got Kembla's leading trainer off to the perfect start when the daughter of Bull Point was far too classy in the Locopa Designs Millinery Maiden Handicap (1600m). Jockey Alysha Collett had Point Hope ($6) racing in the back half the field before the three-year-old showed a devastating turn of speed in the straight to score by 2-3/4 lengths. Markwell struck again in race seven when she denied fellow Kembla trainer Kerry Parker a double of his own after 3kg claiming apprentice Madison Waters navigating a course closest to the fence on Speed and Style. Waters hugged the running rail in the TC Air & Electric Benchmark 64 Handicap (1200m) and to help Markwell's charge edge out Parker's Virgilio by a long head. Parker didn't go home empty-handed on the afternoon. His lightly-raced filly Don Luigi caused the surprise of the day when leading from barrier to boxes in the Go Hire Maiden Handicap (1200m). The $26 outsider took the shortest way home to outlast the John Thompson-trained Kibosh ($9) with David Pieffer's Go Troppo ($16) a further three quarters of a length away. It would prove to be a day of inches for Parker's yard, which saw it's chance of a double scuppered again by a fellow Kembla stable in the last. Veteran galloper Tenorino ($17) came from near last in the TAB Benchmark 64 Handicap (1600m) only to be gunned down late by the Robert and Luke Price-trained First Courrier ($16) by a nose. The victory provided Kembla-based apprentice Madison Waters with a winning double on the biggest day in Australian racing. Sydney trainers Mark Newnham, Gary Porteilli, Joseph Pride and Hawkes Racing all also claimed wins.
