21.01.2022 Today ORH farewells one of our most colourful characters - Paul Martin. After almost 20 years of dedicated service, Paul is heading off on what he calls his 'gap year" where he will be cooking up at storm at a newly built school in Yarra Junction. Paul has worked in almost every department at ORH and we have all had the privilege of getting to know Paul and his enormous heart. Paul gives 110% when at work, and probably 120% when working with the residents and clients. Paul p...uts his hand up to help out whenever asked and was integral to the physical and emotional safety of our aged care residents during the bushfires earlier this year. While we are sad to farewell Paul, we are excited for the new challenges that await him. We know that Paul will be back to visit regularly as he has life long friends here at ORH. Goodbye, good luck and thanks for sharing such a big part of yourself with us here at ORH Paul!

21.01.2022 If you won $1 million dollars what would you do with the money? Our residents have pondered this question and here are their responses

18.01.2022 Given the infection control concerns with Christmas decorations in communal areas, Santa asked some of his helpers to visit Waratah Lodge yesterday and to spread some Christmas cheer. The residents beds are all now adorned with Christmas themed bedding and the residents love it. Thanks as always to Santa’s helpers for going above and beyond to make the residents smile.

05.01.2022 The residents and staff of Waratah Lodge and Lochiel House were so excited to be able to travel out and about around Orbost and surrounds today. Our fabulous st...aff took a few residents at a time in the health service bus to look at what has changed following bushfires and then the Covid restrictions. The residents loved their outings (particularly the ice creams and looking at the grass trees) and have all returned back to ORH for a rest. They are already busy planning their next outing. Please give our staff and residents a big wave if you see them out and about. See more

03.01.2022 Just a quick video to warm your heart on a Wednesday morning. The residents of Lochiel House shared videos and letters with the children from the Early Childhood Centre in Orbost as an intergenerational project. When they were finally able to meet face-to-face the smiles were endless. Age is definitely not a barrier to happiness!

01.01.2022 Lochiel House was lucky to be chosen by Marlo Hotel to host a zoom meeting with representatives from the Victorian Racing Club. Residents got to speak with Mr. Joe McGrath from the VRC and also Mr. Joe Agresta who worked for Bart Cummings as Foreman for quite a number of years. Both gentlemen were very interested in resident Glen Davie’s encounter with Pharlap and believe that he is one of very few people left that have ridden Pharlap.... Our sincere thanks go out to the Marlo Hotel who nominated Lochiel House for this very special occasion.
