23.01.2022 MEET OUR 2021 STUDENT LEADERS Over Term 1 we will be introducing you to our Year 12, 2021 Student Leaders. They are involved in so many areas of WCCS and are a wonderful bunch of students. We will start off by getting to know a bit more about our WCCS School Captains, Olivia and Nicolas. Nicolas B... 1. What do you love about WCCS? The close devotion classes for good discussions. 2. What does being a Christian mean to you? It shapes the way I live and the decisions I make. I know that God’s grace is sufficient, so He still loves me. 3. What is your favourite subject at school? Drama. 4. What portfolio are you responsible for? School Captain and Chapel 5. If you could time travel, to what year would you go and why? 1985, because of Back To The Future and the vibe. Olivia H 1. What do you love about WCCS? I love that WCCS is a school from Kindergarten through to Year 12 with the intention to make disciples of Christ. I love the community the school has, the relationships built, the time spent around God’s word and the awesome experiences and memories. 2. What does being a Christian mean to you? The unique and personal relationship with God and living in faith and confidence that I am saved by grace and grace alone. Looking to Christ for guidance and direction and living a life that reflects Him. 3. What is your favourite subject at school? I love all the subjects I have chosen; however, I would say CAFS (Community and Family Studies) and SOR (Studies of Religion). 4. What portfolio are you responsible for? I am School Captain as well as Emerging Leaders Prefect. 5. If you could time travel, to what year would you go and why? I think I would go back to the 80s because of all the cool dancing movies that came out in that time, also I think the fashion, music and culture is pretty cool and interesting.

03.01.2022 WHAT'LL HAPPEN TO THE WATTLE? WCCS has been selected to take part in the Seeds in Space Project through One Giant Leap Australia Foundation. We will receive wattle seeds that have been flown to space as well as seeds that have not. The seeds are from the same seed lot. Our wattle seeds flew to space on Sunday. When they return, these seeds will be germinated and grown by our students, with data being uploaded to the ‘What’ll happen to the wattle??!’ app.... The project will take at least a year and it is envisaged that the wattle will then be planted and a map will be made of all the ‘space wattle trees’ around Australia. This is a first for Australia. We are part of history!

01.01.2022 SHINING LIGHT VERSE Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:1-2
