15.01.2022 COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT: It is with deep regret and shock that we inform the community our Reserve Manager Tracy was assaulted and hospitalised on Friday nigh...t. On smelling smoke, she came across a group of approx 20 teenagers gathered in the dunes at the old Quarry at around 11.30pm with a camp-site and fire. She requested the fire be extinguished as temperatures were extreme and a fire ban was in place. There is also no camping allowed within the Reserve. The following minutes involved 2-3 youths (males) approaching Tracy, where one used enough force to knock her to the ground, striking her head on the road. She does not recall what proceeded but would like to express some gratitude for 'an older boy in a white hat' who took a protective role until police and ambulance arrived. Two male youths were apprehended by police but the remainder ran into the bush. Investigations are continuing. A BLACK SUBARU WITH GREEN P PLATES was parked on the road nearby; and it is believed at least two females filmed the assault on their phones. It's possible the event was an end of year celebration for local Yr10 students. If you have any information relating to this incident, your coming forward would be greatly appreciated. CONTACT WYONG POLICE, who are in charge of the investigation. As part of the community we have always been grateful for the support shown to Norah Head Lighthouse and hope we can count on that continuing to preserve and protect the Lighthouse and Reserve. Even more so, we would like extend our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery to Tracy. We hope results indicate no long term damage and that you can continue to appreciate your role at the Lighthouse, one that we know you always give 110%. Thankyou in advance for any information that assists with the enquiry. NOTE: We have no further information and NO COMMENT to make regarding the police investigations. If you can provide any assistance in this matter, please contact them direct.
