20.01.2022 Word on the grape vine is that GRV participants will not be required to obtain a planning permit as of January 1st 2020. This is NOT true. Planning permits are a state government requirement. You, as a landowner within your Council MUST comply with your local planning scheme! Planning schemes regulate the use and development of land in Victoria ... Feel free to inbox questions! Local planning schemes (Councils) can be found at; http://planning-schemes.delwp.vic.gov.au/schemes

17.01.2022 Don’t wait until council comes knocking! It’s every trainers biggest fear to wonder what will happen if Council turn up at their front door! We went to the recent changes to the code meetings and overheard trainers and breeders saying ‘Don’t worry.. if there are no complaints- council won’t bother!’... ... Unfortunately they are wrong. The Victorian Government has figured out that data sharing with agencies can assist in ensuring individuals are compliant with the relevant local council planning scheme. Did you know that under the planning and environment act 1987, Council have powers to ensure compliance with the planning scheme which includes (and not limited to) planning infringement notices ($800+ for individuals and $1600+ for companies), prosecution for breaches of the planning scheme and of course the big one- enforcing the use to cease through VCAT! The last one is the big one! Trainers can get caught up in a fight with their Councils over the requirement for you to cease training/ breeding greyhounds at your property. Yes- they have this power! To read more about enforcement of the planning and environment act please follow this link: https://www.planning.vic.gov.au//con/chapter-7-enforcement

I’m worried that if I apply for a planning permit I will get a heap of objections!!! I want to do the right thing and get a permit, but I’m worried I’m opening Pandora’s box! Help! ... Answer: No problems! Did you know that if you apply for a planning permit and meet the objectives contained within the following document! 07.01.2022 Did you know that local government planning schemes control the use of land in Victoria? When your property ‘use’ changes, for example operating a greyhound ra...cing and training facility, it triggers the requirement for you to obtain a planning permit and obtain approval for the ‘use’. This is a separate permit to GRV requirements and Code of Practice and is enforceable by Council. Unfortunately members are getting confused with all the latest requirements, but we are here to help! Contact us today to obtain a free permit check for your property, and see if there are any exemptions you can apply for! [email protected] Or add us as a friend on fb Mike Giles
