04.01.2022 In 1927, W.A and L.G Clifford were invited to attend the opening of Parliament House in Canberra. William and Lucy Clifford took to the road in their automobile (a Minerva), camping on the roadside along the way in places where lodgings were not readily available. William and Lucy Clifford made the most of the opportunity to travel, taking 9 months to holiday around South Eastern Australia on their way to Canberra and back, with many sights seen along the long journey. Willia...m documented the trip with photographs, which now form the 'Glen Clifford Personal Collection' in the resource centre at Old Parliament House. The following selection of some of these photographs are particularly memorable and highly valued as a record of the personal journeys of two Australians who made a long trip to Canberra for the opening of the House in 1927.
