23.01.2022 There is an interesting display in the museum about mining on the Fleurieu. What a diverse area we live in. Please take the time to come along and immerse yourself in the history of the area.

22.01.2022 Sunday 8th December was the Kids market day at the Museum. There was a good attendance early as the day was a hot one. There were lots of interesting stalls selling ice creams, ( very popular), jewellery, pot plants, sauces & preserves, spice rubs, books, biscuits, homemade Christmas trees, craft work etc. A very good variety of goods. Well done kids you do a great job!

18.01.2022 This month we feature the St Thomas Anglican Church, that was originally built at Inman Valley & opened in 1885. It was transferred to the Victor Harbor parish in 1943. The building was then closed & in 1990 was moved to its present location in the grounds of the museum. Visitors are able to see into the church & there is an audio button by the door to learn more about it. It is lovely to see inside & get an insight of church going in the late 1880’s... Come & check it out & all the other interesting exhibits at the museum.! See more

10.01.2022 Recently the museum committee added a story board to the gazebo at the museum about the first landing and settlement of South Australia. Come along to the museum this Friday evening for another great Twilight Market.

10.01.2022 For our June post, these photos are of the two rooms inside the museum, depicting cottage life in the 1800s / 1900s The first is the bedroom & then the kitchen/ living room So many interesting pieces donated. The museum is a great place to visit to see how life was lived in the early days.

09.01.2022 Among other interesting exhibits in the museum is the area dedicated to artefacts, mainly from the wreck of the Victoria, which ran aground at Tunkalilla Beach during a dust storm in 1934. Come and visit.

09.01.2022 Sunday 9th August, approx 30 people attended the AGM of the museum. Guest speaker Pat Uppill née Mayfield , pictured with the president, Rob Ryan, spoke about how the early settlers of Bald Hills & surrounding district lived their lives. The very interesting talk was accompanied by a slide show including photos of her Mayfield ancestors. Pat is also the author of several books about the district & her ancestors. A lot of the attendees had ties to the district, so were very interested in the history of the area. Because of Covid 19 restrictions we were unable to supply afternoon tea. Photos from the museum show wash day in the early days & as today is Monday it is a great day to post them as Monday was traditionally wash day !

05.01.2022 This month the focus at the museum is the shop. It is fascinating looking at all the products, technology and advertising from yesteryear. Come in & have a browse.

04.01.2022 One of the rooms in the museum, depicts a children’s nursery, with many donated items of interest.
