25.01.2022 Been a great couple of days spreading Urea, now fingers crossed for some over the weekend. Grateful for the opportunity given to me by some wonderful clients.

24.01.2022 Comparison photo at a clients farm, top, direct drilled dry on 5th May, bottom, today, 24th June. Grazed once, ready for graze number two. The benefits of direct drilling dry with a tyne machine.

23.01.2022 Paddock almost ready for graze number two!

23.01.2022 A week after NKS application, 40mm for the week and now some sun, this silage paddock is starting to hit its straps!!

23.01.2022 Love this Perup country!!

22.01.2022 Paddocks were looking pretty sad Thursday afternoon. Some beautiful rain (24.5mm) turned them around. Sown on the 12th April and being grazed at the moment, it shows the benefit of early sowing for early feed.

22.01.2022 Forrester Oats/Rye mix seeded 12th April. Forecast showers tonight will be much welcome.

21.01.2022 Gotta love when the spread test is right on the first test run. (Including dust in the tram trays). Urea at 36m.

21.01.2022 Croppies with my farm girl!

19.01.2022 Williams Oats (50kg/ha) and own harvested ryegrass (25kg/ha) with K-Till Extra @80kg/ha direct drilled on Sunday, 12th April. Perfect conditions after receiving 25mm rain on Thursday 9th with a follow up of 12.5mm on Sat 18th. Fingers crossed next weeks forecast rain comes through and this should be away. The Oats should provide good early feed and act as a cover for the young ryegrass plants.

19.01.2022 I strive to achieve the same results for my clients as I strive to achieve on our own farm. No point in doing half a job. Paddock sown April 12th.

18.01.2022 Winter spreading available. Amazone linkage spreader. Variable Rate, Scales, Section Control. Contact Jamie on 0409291972 for more information.

17.01.2022 If youre thinking of getting a hay crop in the ground, now is the time to do it. Clean up the paddock with a knockdown spray and insecticide. An oat/rye/clover mix seeded down with 100kg/ha of starter fert is the way to do it. Contact if you need a hand getting that seed in the ground.

16.01.2022 Got avocado orchard midrows youd like seeded? Planting an oat/pasture mix with give you plenty of green mulch to throw onto your trees. Send Jamie a message or call him on 0409291972 for more information.

16.01.2022 I am extremely grateful and fortunate that Yanmah Farm Contracting is able to continue providing its services to the farming community around the Southern Forests and Blackwood regions. If youre thinking about renovating paddocks, seeding new pastures, hay/silage crops or getting fertiliser spread, please get in contact to discuss your requirements. Seeding is done with a Duncan MkIV Renovator machine, with the ability to direct drill without the need to cultivate paddocks.... The machine also has the ability to put fertiliser in the furrow (highly recommended) at seeding, giving your new seed the best start. Fertiliser spreading is done with an Amazone 3PL precision spreader. The spreader is controlled by the GPS, with Variable Rate, Section Control, Boundary Spreading and with on board Weigh Scales, you will get the desired rate from start to finish with no guess work. Paddock boundaries are mapped and saved in the GPS, which then gives you the ability to plan ahead the following season knowing how big your paddocks are. Please contact Jamie on 0409291972 if you would like further information. Thoughts go out to everyone during these Covid-19 restrictions.

15.01.2022 What couldve been a nasty break during transit has been an opportunity to attach a safety chain in case this happens again. The head off the levelling ratchet broke, which is actually an important (the most) part of the machine.....it connects the drawbar to the rest of the machine. Extremely lucky to have it happen in paddock. Our beautiful smooth roads in the Shire of Manjjmup are a joy to transit on.

15.01.2022 The beautiful, but challenging country around Bridgetown.

13.01.2022 Just like that its mid March (wheres the time gone) and you should be well on the way to organising your seed/fertiliser for your seeding requirements. Some simple tips below. *Organise your seed/fertiliser now to avoid missing out on what you require. *Get the right advice on which seed would best suit your area/requirements. ... *Soil Testing - If you havent soil tested before, do it, its the cheapest $100 youll spend. It will tell you what you need to help your newly seeded pasture/crop. *To get the best out of newly seeded pasture, treat it like a crop. Put the fertiliser in the furrow with the seed, implement insect control measures and keep on top of disease and nutritional requirements. *If you need assistance putting a crop plan together, ask an agronomist. Thats their job. I can point you to an agronomist if you require. *Timing is everything. Well be keeping an eye on the weather closely from now on to ensure we try and get our timing right when seeding new pastures/crops. If you need assistance/advice with your pasture/crop seeding program this season, please give Jamie a call on 0409291972. Good luck to everyone for the season ahead.

13.01.2022 Some people asked, Whyd you buy such a small spreader? Its not the size of the dog.....accuracy, spread pattern, productivity.....this little spreader did 525hectares today.

12.01.2022 Hoping everyone has had a great Easter, albeit different to what were used to. After some widespread rain on Thursday, we are now in full swing seeding over the next few weeks. Ill take a little time to explain about the Duncan MkIV Renovator and why I like this machine. The Duncan is a very simple, mechanical gravity seeder. They are extremely easy to calibrate, but are also extremely accurate as well. ... The MkIV is a tyne machine, with opening coulters up front which cuts a slot for the tynes. The tynes also allows the machine to work in dry/hard conditions. Fertliser is distributed into the furrow, with seed being place behind the fertiliser through a separate tube. Tyne are spaced 150mm (6 inch) apart. With a big focus on minimum/no till these days, the MkIV allows you to direct drill without the requirement for tillage/ploughing pre sowing. The tynes also help with covering volunteer ryegrass/clover seed between the furrows to help with increased germination. The furrows also aid in harvesting water during rain events. Today Ive been sowing an Oat/ryegrass mix @75kg/ha (50kg oats, 25kg rye) for early feed. Fertliser is K-Till Extra @80kg/ha. Target depth of seed is around 10mm, this ensures good coverage for the oats but not too deep for the rye, as long as the seed is covered. If youd like some advice or information in regards to pasture renovation or seeding in general, please contact Jamie via DM or on 0409291972. Happy Easter.

11.01.2022 We harvested some ryegrass regrowth after cutting silage last season. Unfortunately due to the short season the seed didnt fill and yield as hoped, but still got more than what is required for our program. Bell Pasture Seeds have once again done an excellent job of cleaning the seed. Will be looking to try and produce more seed this year by strategically cutting silage earlier (season dependant) and if the opportunity presents add some more nitrogen to increase seed production. One way of utilising silage paddock regrowth to produce your own seed.

11.01.2022 Direct drilled two paddocks with some 2nds oats on the 9th April, it was bone dry. Moved the cows into these paddocks today for their third graze. The tyne machine did an amazing job of covering the volunteer seeds, look at that clover! Paddocks had 190kg/ha Super/Potash 3:2 and 75kg K-Start at seeding.

11.01.2022 The start of a big week before what will hopefully be a very wet week next week. Remember if youre thinking of getting some seeding done dont hesitate in contacting Jamie. Its nearly that time of year for spraying out and seeding those hay paddocks.

11.01.2022 Visiting a client to check on crops that I spread Urea on. Fair to say the canola is cranking. Last photo is of a barley crop spread in 40kph winds. Not ideal conditions but the Amazone did a wicked job.

10.01.2022 Hay paddock, Forrester Oats + Bells Pasture Mix, seeded 4th June, dry seeded. Topping up with 65L/ha UAN, plus Zn, Mn & Cu + Insecticide in anticipation of some rainfall in the next couple days. This paddock was a bit of a trial doing things somewhat differently to normal..... Not my favourite thing driving through tall crop!

10.01.2022 After some great moisture over the last couple of weeks, conditions are prime for direct drilling some oats for a client. 100kg/ha Williams Oats + 100kg/ha Grow Safe NPK Crop Plus. Great option for early feed as this block is under pivot irrigation. If youd like some simple, non biased advice for your pasture/hay/silage seeding program dont hesitate to contact Jamie via DM or on 0409291972.

Very light unit on crop at approx 12.5t fully loaded. Excellent spread pattern giving uniform crop growth as well as saving you on Urea costs with section control. Please give Jamie (owner/operator) a call on 0409291972 or send a PM if you would like more information. Thank you.

08.01.2022 Ryegrass absolutely flying along out in Jardee....now for some context below. Seeded on 30th March. Ryegrass/Balansa Clover @40kg/ha. (Rye ~34kg Balansa ~6kg) Potato E @100kg/ha... This paddock was seeded post potato harvest. Ground was prepped and then irrigated prior to seeding to settle and firm up the profile. Crop was irrigated (centre pivot) twice before the first lot of rain came. Cattle are now happily grazing. Amazing what a bit of moisture can do. Will be ready for some Urea in the next couple of weeks to really get the production going.

07.01.2022 Hopper extension for more capacity and longer spreading vanes to get Urea out to 36 metres.

07.01.2022 Gotta love Variable Rate and Section Control on the spreader. Precision at work.

07.01.2022 Happy cows!! Temporary fences to split our early sown paddocks for grazing. Mistake made here was only sowing oats at 50kg/ha ....lesson learnt, and you never stop learning. Hoping to get 4-5 days grazing per 3.5-4 hectares. 3-4 hours in the mornings and move out, hay in the arvos. Absolutely magnificent weather for growing grass.

06.01.2022 NKS3:2:1 going out on silage and pasture paddocks today. Even spread pattern = production. On board scales = full rate from start to finish, no guess work.... Section Control = No overlapping and overspreading which saves you $$. Boundary spreading = fertiliser going on crop/pasture, not on the road, in the bush or on the neighbours. Linkage spreaders = light on paddocks.

06.01.2022 A post with a timeline of how things can start good, very nearly go really bad and then turn around.....all due to the rain. It was 2018, another late start to the season, but with good forecast rain for the 19th April we got some paddocks sown, timeline as follows. Paddock sown 18/4 followed by 21.5mm on the 19/23 April. We then had only two separate 5.5mm events on the 2/6 May. Nothing but warm conditions until the season broke on the 24th May. The photo of the nearly dea...d crop on the 24th, followed by a photo the next day after 44mm. We had 61.5mm on the 24/25th May. Urea @90kg/ha went out on the 26/5 before getting another 43mm for the remainder of May. Following progress pics were on the 4/6 and 15/6 with the cows going in for their first graze on the 25/6. Just goes to show what rain can do, but also how when dry land farming you are at the hands of the mother above. This year has been another indifferent start with some good rain for some....I know were anticipating the rain that is forecast for this coming week. Hoping it spreads all the way through all Ag regions.

06.01.2022 20t over two blocks with three different rates, the Amazone makes the job easy..... The day started with a spread test to check the pattern of the product, which was Super/Potash 3/2. All products are different with different granule size/weight. This machines ability to adjust the drop point and spinner speed is key to getting the correct spread pattern. Spreading was at 24 metres. With on board scales its a matter of setting the rate on the screen. With the GPS in control..., and with Section Control, theres no overlaps, especially in those wedges. If youre requiring fertiliser to be spread, please contact Jamie for more information.

05.01.2022 Direct drilling into existing pastures. No need to cultivate, just drill with fertiliser and seed in one pass, job done.

04.01.2022 After taking two years to get the gear together, Ive finally got the spreading gear out into the wheatbelt. With paddocks bigger than our farm its something very different!!

02.01.2022 Few showers would be nice to get this early seeded paddock cranking.

02.01.2022 Its been an extremely busy week at YFC, and with some very timely rain overnight, well be straight back into it on Monday. If you have any questions in regards to seeding/pasture renovation, dont hesitate to give Jamie a call on 0409291972 or send a PM.
