25.01.2022 My contract has finished with the Yarrabah Aboriginal Shire Council and they are expecting to appoint someone to a full time Communications position which includes production of the Yarrabah News very soon. This will be a great move for the Council and I wish all the Councillors, staff and new editor all the best as they move forward in these challenging times. I will, of course, maintain my connections with the Yarrabah community through my newsletter work with other org...anisations and reporting for Koori Mail as needed. You can access all the Yarrabah News issues I’ve done (some of them with Jaeleen ) to date at http://chowes.com.au/category/newsletters/yarrabah-news/ I will let you all know as soon as I can what is likely to happen with this page. Thank you all for your support over the past three and a half years, it’s been a wonderful opportunity to highlight the many good things there are about yourselves, your work and your beautiful community...cheers...Christine See more

08.01.2022 Family Access into Yarrabah under Chief Heath Officer (CHO) Directive. Families in Yarrabah today have greater movement options. Great to see people taking adva...ntage of the changes and travelling freely within the Declared Travel Zone. Effort has gone into ensuring families who live outside of Yarrabah can make visits to community - to maintain family and cultural obligations. Visiting family members are encouraged to source the exemption form from the CHO Website. Don't worry if you can't as the CHO directive allows family visits. To gain access to community via the check point, family visitors (who do not have an exemption pass) must state: - Where they have come from (start destination - e.g. Cairns) - license details will be checked - Who you going to visit in community (state a name and address so the police can check - end destination) Police at the Vehicle Check Point have instructions to support family access to community. Their aim is to continue to keep our community Safe from COVID-19 risks. Police will be particularly concerned with people who are foreigners or tourists - these people will not be permitted access. Persons or family from outside Declared Travel Zone will be screened. For these persons, if they do not have a CHO exemption they will be stopped from entering community. Thank you in advance.
