10.01.2022 Diesel Burner It was my 6th birthday, all I wanted was a bucking bull. I dreamed of riding my bucking bull and as dad drove out with the horse float on the back first thing in the morning I was certain he was going to come back with my bucking bull in the back. An hour went passed, I saw the car and float coming up the drive way. I ran out of the back yard down the road and ran along side the float trying to peer in and get a glimpse of my new bucking bull. The car stopped ...dad told me to get back out of the way. Here it is thought my level of excitement through the roof. The back door opened on the float and there he was DIESEL BURNER!!!! He was black hairy and around 10hands high, it was a Shetland pony. All though not what I exactly wanted he filled the position of my new best friend. I brushed him and fed him and did everything with that little pony. We called him DB for short and I rode him every day cruising around the houses and up and down the driveway. We would gallop around, I worked out he went the fastest on the way back to the stables, we would come in with pace, DB trying to wipe me off on the stable door on entry. The proudest moment was going mustering with dad for the first time. Me in my orange stack hat riding next to dad off to do a job where I thought I was contributing as much as any man alive. We Campdrafted in Springsure and comet, I remember coming out of the camp and absolutely sending that little pony but we never could quite get around the beast to get a bend on it. We did pony club in Comet. But I loved going to work with dad on DB, riding along on the tail, getting told to stay here in a certain spot while he rode off to gather some cattle definitely the best times. He lived to a ripe old age, both my brothers learning to ride on him. I remember as a teenager going to the school bus and seeing the DB as an old pony in the gully white with frost on his back. Thanks Diesel Burner you were a legend!! See more

02.01.2022 Station Hands required for the 2021 season! Sandover Pastoral Company is a private family owned operation with five adjoining properties run as one, based at Am...maroo Station. We are located North East of Alice Springs, with a breeding herd of Brahman and Santa cattle. We utilise trap yards, and therefore there is no mustering as such. Majority of our cattle work involves drafting breeders, with weaners being brought back to Ammaroo main yards to be educated and processed. Duties include -cattle work -repairs to fences and yards -assisting with bore repairs and installations of solars -assisting with maintaining road train fleet, earthmoving gear and station vehicles -other general station and homestead duties Information -day rate wages depending on experience -single or couples accommodation available -meals provided in staff kitchen -airconditioned rooms -mobile phone service -no pets or guns No experience necessary, but station or trade experience would be beneficial. This would be a good opportunity to learn a little about a lot on a station. Please PM us for more information or email resumes to [email protected]
