18.01.2022 Dr. Nicky Waugh- Although only being a "recent" graduate from Yarram Secondary College, Nicky Waugh has really shone this year. A joint school dux in 2009, Nicky went on to do medicine. In 2018 Nicky joined a medical practice at Frankston. During 2020, with the outbreak of COVID19 at the Frankston Hospital, Nicky put her hand up to work there on the frontline. At the completion, she then had to isolate before being allowed to go back to her practice. A great effort from someone so young.

08.01.2022 NAIDOC WEEK To Celebrate NAIDOC week Always Was, Always Will Be school nurse Bec Brennan is running a daily quiz on Compass with prizes up for grabs. Today, some students made indigenous Jonny cakes which were really yummy, especially the Lemon Myrtle ones. At lunchtime students sat in a yarning circle and made yarning sticks and switched off from the world for 20 minutes. This was a great mindfulness activity as well as a restorative process for talking within the circle.... This Thursday, the lunchtime walking group will have indigenous music to pace themselves to and we will bring you some more bush tucker flavour sensations to try! See more

04.01.2022 Last Day Celebrations Our Year 12's celebrated their end of 13 years of schooling today with the annual celebration day. Teachers cooked up a storm for them for breakfast before they paraded in their costumes at a general assembly. The students then boarded buses for a trip to Stony Creek races and a bbq lunch at the Toora pool. The day was a mix of emotions for everyone, after a torrid year with half of it spent working at home, it was great to see them relax and have some fun. Everyone at the school wishes the Year 12's all the best for their upcoming exams and their future endeavors.

02.01.2022 YCS Alumni Over many years we have had some students go onto fantastic careers in Australia and Overseas. Meet Tom and George McQueen. George received the Art Acquisition prize at YSC in 2006 with a sketch of his twin, Tom. This sketch hangs in the school along with other acquisitions. Fast forward 15 years and the boys are making a name for themselves in "The Big Apple"- New York. ... In April 2017, the Clemenger BBDO Melbourne duo won a Black Pencil for "Meet Graham". That helped Clemenger to become D&AD Agency of the Year. In May, Meet Graham won Best of Show at the New York Festivals World’s Best Advertising. Then in July that year they landed senior creative jobs at Droga5 New York. One month later, it won two Grands Prix, eight Gold Lions, 16 Silvers & 4 Bronzes. And Clemenger was named Cannes Agency of the Year. The twins also co-created Airbnb’s marriage equality campaign, Until We All Belong. The Acceptance Ring, which won one Silver and 1 Bronze Lion. Myer’s Christmas campaign, Santa’s Star, and Origin Energy’s Rate My Roof, which won a Bronze Lion at Cannes in 2018. You can Google "Meet Graham" and see the project the boys created. See more
